[🐱Hidden Tool] v1.2.0 adds a random feature and the YeKu cat. Plus, a little bit about a new concept.

Good evening, everyone.

I released something the other day,

a tool to hide your note follower count so you don't get caught up in the numbers (a Google Chrome extension).

This time, I have updated it to v1.2.0!

I am currently waiting for Google's review with bated breath.

I hope that by the time this article is published, it will have passed the review safely and been automatically reflected in your environments.

I am truly full of gratitude for the many people who use it.

Even now, people are sending me feedback saying they use it, reporting bugs, or introducing it on X. Each and every one of these is a huge encouragement to me.

Thank you.

(It is a free tool.)

What's in this update

[Bug Fixes]

  • I fixed a bug where CSS animations were accidentally applied to the magazine follower section. To those of you who felt like, 'Is the follower count moving? Is it just my imagination?', I apologize. It should be a calm display now.

[New Features]

  • Random feature added. If you turn it on in the settings, the emoji displayed in the follower count will change every time. Like, today it's 🐱, tomorrow it's 🐶, the day after it's 🐉... I hope it provides a little change of pace.

  • YeKu cat (provisional version) has been added as one of the emoji options. This is that cat that serves as my icon. I received feedback saying, 'Depending on the environment, emojis don't always look cute,' so I made it possible to replace them with an image I prepared. I still call it a 'provisional version' because at 16 pixels, the image gets crushed and you can't tell what it is, so I'm thinking about whether to draw pixel art myself for it and the main icon... or what to do.

  • Popup support. When you click the extension icon from the toolbar in the top right of the browser, the settings screen now pops up right there. Well, I don't think there are many people who want to change it that often. Until now, you had to go to the options page, which I felt was a bit of a hassle.

  • Previously, when you changed settings, they wouldn't be reflected unless you reloaded the note page, but I made it so they are reflected immediately without a reload. For those who have had the experience of wondering, 'Huh? It hasn't changed?', you can now switch them quickly.

Popup.

※For those who have forgotten how to set it up
① If you pin it from the puzzle piece icon at the top of your browser, the cat icon will appear in the browser bar. Clicking it will open the settings popup.

② Alternatively, clicking the vertical ellipsis (・・・) on the screen in ① will show "Options," which you can use to access it.

I'm glad I made the "Random Feature"

The random feature was an idea originally suggested by Yuhi-san.

When I actually made it, it was surprisingly fun.

Opening the note screen I'm used to seeing and checking which little one is there today has become a small joy.

Hiding numbers was a tool I originally created with the rather serious motive of "not being swayed by numbers."

But I feel like making the emojis random makes opening note itself a little more fun.

Thank you to everyone who supported me.

Thank you also to Peku-san, who started using it right away💕

Concept for a "Mute Feature" to gently keep a distance

Actually, I'm thinking about preparing a new tool as a separate extension from the follower count 🐱-fication tool.

I have heard from several people about this for some time.

When things get a little awkward with someone. Or when, for some reason, reading their posts makes you feel bad by comparing yourself to them, it happens, doesn't it...

But I don't want to block them, and even if I unfollow them, their articles still show up via magazines and such. Every time that happens, my heart hurts a little...

I think many of you might know what I mean.

At times like that, I've always thought that if there were a feature like a gentle "mute", I could take some time to clear my head without hurting myself or the other person.

A mute feature is a function on other social media where the other person doesn't know, but it becomes invisible from your own screen.

If that were the case, you wouldn't have to block or unfollow the other person.

Of course, since I cannot modify the note platform itself, I cannot implement a perfect mute in the true sense.

However, it is technically possible to hide articles from your timeline just by changing how they look on your browser screen.

Not to ignore or dislike anyone, but purely to enjoy note gently and with peace of mind.
And so that when you have sorted out your feelings, you can read that person's articles again.

I am thinking of creating and releasing it quietly, aiming for that kind of 'step forward'...

Tools cannot solve everything, but I hope it can become one of the options available to you.

Conclusion

So, today I shared the news about the v1.2.0 update for the 🐱 tool and the concept for what I plan to make next.

The tool to hide numbers and the gentle mute feature both share the same foundation.

I want to increase, even by one, the options for spending time on note with peace of mind.

With that thought in mind, I am working on it steadily.

The gentle 'mute' feature will take a little more time.
Maybe next month.

In the meantime, if you have any bug reports or requests for the 🐱 tool, please let me know.

Thank you for your continued support of the 🐱 and the small tools that will be born in the future.

Thank you for reading.
