【Celebration: Review Passed】 The tool that hides follower counts with 🐱 was released today on 'Cat Day'!

Good evening, everyone.
Thank you for the warm response to my recent article about the
'Tool to turn follower counts into 🐱' (Google Chrome extension)
which I posted to help keep your mind from being disturbed by follower numbers.

I was waiting for Google's review results with bated breath, but... amazingly, it passed the review today!

It's visible in the store!

My main job is as a programmer, but this was the first time in my life I've ever created a Chrome extension. So, I'm incredibly happy to see it published in the store and working like this...

Plus, today is February 22nd. I didn't plan it this way, but I'm savoring the joy as an engineer (and as a fellow note user) that it could be released on the perfect 'Cat Day'!

'note Follower Count 🐱 Tool' is now available!

Here is what the tool is like.

• It changes the follower count display for yourself and other creators to a '🐱' emoji. (Only in terms of appearance on your screen)

• When you want to check the numbers, they appear instantly just by hovering your mouse cursor over them.

• If you click, you can check the follower count as usual.

With this, I've graduated from the brute-force method I previously insisted on: 'physically squinting your eyes so you don't have to worry about follower counts'.

The 'pressure of numbers' will disappear from your note world, and adorable 🐱 will line up instead! Amazing!

1. How to install

Basically, it is an extension for PC (Google Chrome), but it can also be used in some smartphone environments. (It is free.)

For PC users: Just click 'Add to Chrome' from [Link to Chrome Web Store] using Google Chrome or a compatible browser.

A confirmation dialog like this will appear.

For those who usually use smartphones, it takes a bit of effort, but there is a way to install it.

・For Android users

Standard Chrome apps do not support extensions, but
1. Install a browser app called "Lemur Browser - Extensions",
2. Access the store in that browser and enable the extension. Once you do this, you can turn your follower count into 🐱 on your smartphone, provided you are accessing note through this browser.

・For iPhone users
If you install a browser called "Orion Browser" from the App Store, it seems you can enable Chrome extensions within that browser.

I didn't have an iPhone on hand to test it myself, but Yuhi-san kindly tested it for me.🙇‍♀️

2. How to use

Simply open note in the browser where you installed it, and only on your screen, the display of your own and others' follower counts will change to "🐱".

(Rest assured, the numbers will display as usual on other people's screens and in browsers where the tool is not installed!)

When you want to see the numbers, just hover your mouse cursor over the 🐱 (or tap it if you are on a smartphone), and the original numbers will peek out.

When you want to take a break from it, you can turn it off from the extension management screen (chrome://extensions/) or simply delete it.

3. Things I want to share (Points of caution)

・Regarding privacy and safety
This tool does not send your note data to any external servers, nor does it change the data itself, such as follower counts.
(The data itself resides on note's servers, so it cannot be changed from the outside.)

This is not a feature that "hides your follower count from others (turns it into 🐱)," but rather a simple mechanism that acts like placing a cat sticker over the follower count on your own note screen to hide it "from your own eyes." I hope you can use it with peace of mind.

・Not affiliated with the official service
This tool is an unofficial one, unrelated to note Inc., which I created personally within the scope of the terms of service because I thought it would be nice to have.

While I would like to provide as much support as I can as an engineer regarding any issues caused by the installation, I hope you will use it gently based on your own judgment.

・It may stop working
Due to specification changes or updates to note itself, there may be times when the 🐱 inevitably stops displaying (and reverts to numbers).

If you notice, "Oh, it's not working," it would be helpful if you could let me know in the comments section or elsewhere.

Future developments

I've been using it myself and feel that it brings peace of mind, but I wonder how it is for everyone else? If you have any feedback, please let me know.

If the response from everyone is positive, I am planning to update it with more features.

• Allowing users to choose motifs other than 🐱

• Customization features like 'I want to see others' numbers, but I only want to hide my own'

and so on—if you have any feedback like 'It would be easier to use if it were like this!', please let me know.

(I also want another extension that lets you see errors on PC when you hit the 'like' limit... sometimes I keep clicking without realizing it.)

My first extension release, paying 5 dollars for the application...

I started out not knowing left from right, but being able to shape it into something by 'Cat Day' like this is all thanks to everyone who pushed me forward in my previous article.

Also, some people were kind enough to tip me 5 dollars to cover the 5 dollars I paid for store registration, and I was so moved that my eyes welled up with tears...!
