Q4. 300 note followers! 5 secret strategies even beginners can do [Ask YeKu Anything Corner]
Hello everyone!
Welcome to the "Ask YeKu Anything Corner"! This is a very popular (?) project where I accept questions exclusively from membership subscribers.
This time, too, I will be cutting straight to the heart of your passionate concerns! If you are interested, please check this out!
Here is this time's question!
The topic for this month is, quite simply...
"How to increase note followers."
This is a bit of a direct question, and I hesitated to ask, but I would like to know how you, YeKu, think followers should be grown.
(I know in my head that the number of followers isn't important, but I'm still curious, you know.)
However, the scope might be a bit too broad, so
I would like you to answer from the perspective of what advice you would give to a noter who is asking, "What should I do to reach about 300 people?"
I think 300 is a number that anyone could reach if they try hard, but it's actually difficult, so I wanted to ask.
From your perspective, YeKu, if there's anything like, "This person's note would grow if they did this," or "This kind of note is a waste," please let me know if you have any thoughts!
I think you are very good at branding, such as your icon image and messaging, so I wanted to ask you!
Thank you very much!
YeKu's heartfelt answer!
Thank you so much for the wonderful question! This is a theme I don't often get to talk about in depth, so I'm excited too!
Also, I really empathize with the question, "What should I do to aim for 300 followers on note?"
I have reached 1,000 followers now, but at first, I was anxious, wondering, "Will anyone read this?" and I had a strong desire to increase my follower count. Even if you know in your head that "it's not about the numbers," you still care, right? Yes, I understand!
(Deep breath)300 is a number that truly embodies the saying, "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
I think it's a number you can definitely reach if you work hard steadily, so let's think about it together!
First, the "groundwork"! Steady promotion is important.
Unfortunately, note cannot be expected to have the explosive diffusion power of X.
That is precisely why it is important to take the initiative yourself at first to create "opportunities for people to read your work."
What I practiced was following people who wrote articles I liked, and leaving comments or pressing the 'like' button.
To avoid looking like I was just doing it for a follow-back, I would read the articles thoroughly and leave comments filled with love, saying, "I really love this expression!" (laughs).
I think it's good to aim for about 50 "dedicated readers" at first. If these 50 people think, "I want to read more!", it should spread naturally from there. It really is true that "Rome wasn't built in a day!"
Strengthen horizontal connections through "lobbying"!
On note, connections with people are extremely important. For example,
Utilize Magazines
It is also effective to appeal to users with many followers to add your work to their magazines, or to create your own magazine and add articles you like to it to draw attention to your presence.Citations
Citing other people's articles is also effective. If you ask, "Your article is so wonderful, may I cite it?", the other person will be happy, and you can promote yourself (silent citations are fine, but since citing an article sends a notification to the other person, don't forget to show respect!).Participate in Theme Projects
On note, individuals often set themes and hold regular projects, so participating in these is a golden opportunity to get people to know you! For example...
are quite famous, aren't they? Once your follower count increases, it might be good to host one yourself.
I've done it once myself a long time ago (blush).
If you participate in projects, your exposure will increase, and you will have more opportunities to be added to magazines.
I'm not good at socializing, so I don't participate much, but I get the impression that those who do participate get known all at once here.
It truly is a case of "even a brush of sleeves is a karmic connection"!
Demonstrate your "power to make people read" in the title and opening!
In terms of content, "the title and the first three lines" are where the real battle is!
Even if the content is good, if you don't make people think "I'm curious!" right there, it will unfortunately get buried.
For example, if you use a title like "What I did to aim for 300 followers as 'me, who gets buried on note'" and start by empathizing with the reader's feelings, saying "I want to increase my followers, but what should I do...? Someone help!", you should be able to draw them in.
Regarding the title, it might be good to self-check from the perspective of, "Would I be interested if I saw this article on my timeline at a glance?"
On the other hand, it is my personal opinion that the cover image is not that important, but even so, if you "only post short thoughts" or "have many articles without cover images," I hesitate a little to follow (this is just my personal opinion!).
Readability is also important; if youbreak it up into short sections so it can be read quickly on a smartphone andsprinkle in interesting points, it will lead to follows with people thinking "I want to read more!"
(I like long-form writing, so my posts tend to be long, but even so, I've started writing with shorter breaks than I used to, and if I become a complete short-form writer, I think more people will read them...)
Stir up a storm of empathy with honesty and humanity!
The honesty in your question, such as "I hesitated to ask..." or "I understand it in my head, but I'm curious," is incredibly charming.
You should definitely make the most of this human touch on note! For example...
"A diary entry about wanting more followers but getting tired of worrying about the numbers"
"I seriously can't forget the joy of receiving my first comment"
If you write about your real emotions just like this, readers will empathize, saying 'I get it! I totally get it!', and will click 'like' or follow you.
On note, articles with many likes are more likely to be read, so points of empathy should be your strongest weapon.
Express your 'true self' through your profile and icon!
First impressions are also important.
Take your time to think about 'how you want to be perceived' through your icon and profile.
I wanted to project an image of 'approachable laid-backness,' so I use an icon that is simple but playful.

For you, the questioner, it might be good to express the 'realism of struggling while feeling lost' through a casual illustration or something similar. If you make your profile so that people can instantly tell 'what kind of person writes this,' you'll be more likely to get followed.
You complimented my branding, but actually, by placing a common illustration on my cover images, I'm counting on the mere-exposure effect (feeling more familiar with something you see every day) and differentiation from other articles by using this consistent motif.
However, the content of my articles isn't consistent at all!! (lol)
Create a sense of being 'the chosen one' by cleaning up your follows!
If the number of people you follow and your followers are unbalanced, people tend to think, 'Are they just looking for follow-backs?'
I also clean up my list occasionally, keeping the number of people I follow to about half of my follower count.
Doing that gives the impression that 'this person is being selective,' and I feel like it makes it easier to get followed. It really is 'quality over quantity'!
(Bonus) Secret trick: Mutual follows in memberships
This might be a bit different from what you intended, but there are some memberships where 'all members are required to follow each other.' If you join one of those, your followers might increase in an instant. I haven't used them myself, and I worry that once you join, it might be hard to leave, so I've refrained from it, but just keep it in mind as a secret trick!
Points that feel 'almost there' and how to improve them
Your honesty as a questioner is definitely a weapon, so if you write about themes that leverage that consistency and honesty—such as a 'diary of my battle with wanting more followers' or a travelogue if you are going on a long trip—I am sure there will be people who resonate with it.
Conversely, I feel it is a waste if you only write about safe, generic things.
Reaching 300 people is faster if you 'strike a chord with a few' rather than 'being liked by everyone,' so please try to show more of your direct and candid side.
Finally
I also thought at first, 'I might not even get anyone to read this, let alone 300 people,' but by working steadily, I was able to surpass that number.
Especially in the beginning, you really want to increase your follower count, don't you? I understand that feeling very well.
I hope you will also try to aim for 50 followers first (if you haven't already) and proceed with the image of expanding from there.
Of course, you don't have to do everything in the advice I've written here; I think it would be fine if you just incorporate the things you feel might be effective.I think that is fine.
