　Cars are not allowed to enter Heisenji Hakusan Shrine, so you must move from several parking lots via shuttle bus. It was already full around 10:45, but since we intended to visit Echizen Daibutsu from the start, we were able to park normally. Let's use the free massive parking lot of Echizen Daibutsu even after 2058!!

#EchizenDaibutsu: Buddha Statue Wonderland "#DaishizanSeidaiji" Echizen Daibutsu [Hokuriku Series/Ishikawa Series/Fukui Series]

  • The vast temple grounds are home to a well-ordered arrangement of temple buildings, and many large and small Buddhist statues are enshrined there.

The principal image of this temple was modeled after the seated statue at Longmen Fengxian Temple in the Longmen Grottoes on the outskirts of Luoyang, Henan Province, China. Vairocana Buddha is called 'Vairocana' in Sanskrit, which means 'sun.' In other words, like the sun, Vairocana Buddha is always at the center of the universe, continuously illuminating the entire cosmos. In Buddhism, there is a distinction between a Buddha who actually appeared in this world to spread teachings, like Shakyamuni, and a Buddha who is the personification of the Buddhist teachings (Dharma) themselves. The former is called a Nirmanakaya (transformation body) Buddha, and the latter is called a Dharmakaya (truth body) Buddha, as the Dharma has become a body. Vairocana Buddha is a Dharmakaya Buddha, representing the eternal and indestructible truth of the universe. It can be said that Shakyamuni and Vairocana Buddha are two sides of the same coin.
