[Bankruptcy Memoir] Let's Start from the Most Miserable Place!

At the end of 2017, "Super Yamato," a store famous only in Yamanashi Prefecture, went bankrupt with total liabilities of 1.7 billion yen.Its president is publishing a book detailing the aftermath without any shame.
The title is "This Is How the Store Collapsed."

"What is a guy who bankrupted his company doing now!" Competitors even went as far as to suppress the book's advertisements and reviews.The book is packed with exposés about the industry.

With the thought, "Fine, then I'll sell it in front of the collapsed store that hasn't found a buyer yet," I exposed myself to the "most miserable place", set up a desk in front of the store, and started selling the books with my wife.

"We've been taken care of by the local community for over 100 years, so we have to say goodbye properly." I persuaded my reluctant wife, and we started selling while being pointed at from cars waiting at traffic lights and enduring scornful gazes!

People's true colors show in times of crisis.

Before the bankruptcy, government officials and the board of education flocked to me, and politicians who came to show their faces when elections were near would now look at me and walk past as if I weren't there. I guess there's no benefit in associating with a bankrupt person anymore. I understand how they feel.

A directive is issued to the supporters of Super Yamato who felt pity for me!
"Hey, it seems the president of Yamato is selling his book with his wife. We were helped by them when we were in trouble, so how can we not help them now!"

A long line started to form at the special book sales booth!

People called more people, and the 400 books we prepared sold out.
I'm used to signing things as a joint guarantor.
Business partners, former employees, and even competitors told me they were relieved to see my face.

The people who had ignored me and walked past earlier even came back specifically to call out to me (lol).
The world isn't such a bad place. The book eventually became a hit with 6 printings, and the money disappeared into the living expenses of my penniless household m(__)m

A young man came to buy the book.

Me: "Are you someone related to Super Yamato?"

Young man: "No, you helped me graduate from high school, President!"

Me: "Huh?"

Young man: "When you were a member of the board of education, you donated your entire salary for four years, didn't you?"

Me: "That's right, I acted cool saying I didn't need small change and donated the full amount to a foundation for traffic orphans."

Young man: "I heard I received a lot from you.
I was able to graduate from high school with that money. I wanted to thank you."

Me: "I see... (crying)💧 Didn't your teacher tell you to go?
In that case, you don't need the change, right?"

Young man: "That's a different matter!"

Me: "Of course it is💦 Here is your 350 yen change."

Young man: "Please use this change to buy something cold to drink with your wife!"

Wife: "I want to drink beer for the first time in a while" ← "Just stick to happoshu (lol)"

Me: "You've grown up so much💧 I don't even know who you are (lol)"

Five years since then...
It was the same bright blue sky as today.
