Cutting back on sleep? No way! Just add a little something to your daily routine and you'll be golden!
Thanks for stopping by! Today, I want to talk about what it really means to 'do your best'.
You've probably thought to yourself, 'Alright! I'm going to work super hard, even if it means losing sleep!' right? But honestly, that's exhausting and you'll burn out in no time (lol). In reality, isn't it better to just sprinkle a little effort into your daily life instead of pushing yourself to the breaking point?
1. Doesn't the word 'do your best' feel a bit heavy?
The phrase 'do your best' has this image of 'Ugh! I have to do this!' that makes your shoulders tense up. But you don't need to be that serious or intense. For example, instead of saying 'I'm going to do a hardcore workout at the gym!', it's enough to just have the mindset of 'I'll pick up some dumbbells while I'm out for my morning walk'.
This is super important. Turn 'doing your best' into a small daily habit. Treat it with the same level of intensity as brushing your teeth or doing a stretch before bed—just a casual 'Well, I guess I'll do this' is fine!
2. If you make it a routine, you can keep it up forever!
Are you thinking about studying English? If you get all fired up and say, 'I'm going to cut back on sleep and memorize vocabulary for 3 hours a day!', you'll be saying 'I'm done with this...' in three days (lol). So, just doing something like 'tapping on a vocabulary app for 5 minutes while drinking my morning coffee' is plenty.
You can do that even when you're super busy, right? And even if it's just 5 minutes a day, that's 150 minutes in a month! That's over two and a half hours! If you do small things consistently, you can get big results without losing sleep. Pretty smart, right?
3. Perfectionism? Throw that in the trash!
If you want to go with a smart mindset, the trick is not to aim for perfection. Even if you want to write a blog, if you get all tense thinking, 'I have to write a perfect 5,000-character article!', you'll just freeze in front of the keyboard (lol). But if you think, 'I'll just write 200 characters a day about whatever comes to mind,' it's super easy.
It's okay to make mistakes, it's okay if it's mediocre. Just push forward with the spirit of 'Well, this is good enough!' Throw perfectionism into the trash can!
4. If you pair it with something you like, it becomes fun!
If you think everything is something you 'have to do,' it's just going to be painful. So, combine it with something you enjoy. Is running boring? Just blast your favorite songs and run while you're feeling the groove. Is studying tough? If you do it at a stylish cafe while sipping a delicious latte, your mood will lift a bit, right?
When I write my notes, I blast my favorite Rakugo, grab a coffee, and think, 'Alright, let's write a little.' Then, it doesn't feel like a 'chore I have to do,' but more like 'play,' and I get really into it!
5. It's okay to just say, "Oh well!"
Lastly, the "Oh well" mindset is the strongest one. Did you skip a day? Take two days off? That's just a rounding error in the grand scheme of life! You can just come back the next day and say, "Alright, let's do a little bit." If you cut into your sleep to go hardcore, you'll just end up feeling stiff and broken. Going at your own pace and just adding a little bit to your daily routine is the secret to keeping it up without stress!
Conclusion
Cutting into your sleep to "work hard" is exhausting, right? Sneaking in the things you like and want to do into the gaps of your daily life is a clever way to live, isn't it? Forget about perfection; just enjoying things casually is fine. Before you know it, you'll realize, "Hey, I've actually made a lot of progress!"
So, starting today, let's take it easy with a "Well, let's give it a try" kind of attitude! Thanks a bunch 🍡
Thank you for reading until the end ✨

[The time to go for it is now]
Please don't hold back.
"I can do it when the time comes" is a line that can only be said by people who are constantly challenging themselves.
