Can you make people think the obvious is incredibly amazing?
Hello there! Hope you're doing well. It's a bit sudden, but don't you think we all tend to completely overlook the "obvious"? For example, things everyone knows, like "water is H2O" or "1+1=2." But hey, have you ever thought about what would happen if you took that "obvious" thing and pursued it with an abnormal amount of passion and obsession? Wouldn't it turn into something truly amazing?
The obvious is actually incredibly profound
So, for example, take coffee. Everyone just thinks, "Coffee has caffeine, it wakes me up in the morning," right? But what happens if someone with an abnormal amount of passion shows up? They start saying things like, "This bean is a Supremo grown at 1,500 meters in Colombia! The roasting temperature is 198°C for 17 minutes and 12 seconds, and 88°C is the best water temperature for a drip!" They start talking in such a geeky way. A normal person would be surprised, like, "Wow, you really love coffee!" And their social media could totally go viral. Because even though it's a topic everyone knows, like "coffee," that incredible knowledge and passion really come through!
This isn't just about coffee; it's the same for everything. Take train timetables, for example. Everyone thinks, "Trains arrive on time," right? But if a timetable geek starts saying, "This line has data showing the 7:03 AM weekday train tends to be 0.3 seconds late! And the train model is the XX series..." you'd think, "Wow, this person is amazing!" Honestly, seeing someone obsessively into something super obvious is kind of cool.
The equation of passion and obsession = "Amazing"
Why do people think it's amazing when you have passion for something so obvious? My hypothesis is that it's the "gap." If someone comes along and gets hooked on something everyone else just brushes off with a "meh, I know that," saying, "No, you don't get it! This is actually crazy!" you get drawn in, right? Their eyes are sparkling, and just listening to them makes you excited, thinking, "What is this passion!?"
And obsession is also important. Not just getting into it a little, but really digging deep, like, "I'm going to master this!" For example, disposable chopsticks. Disposable chopsticks, really? You'd think, "They're just wood," right? But what if one day, someone became a chopstick master, having researched everything from the types of wood, history, and manufacturing methods to the environmental impact? If they said, "These are cypress, but the position of the grain is exquisite, making them perfectly easy to split!" you'd be like, "Wait, there was that much drama behind disposable chopsticks!?" And if they wrote an article on Note called "The Aesthetics of Disposable Chopsticks," it would definitely go viral!
Passion is contagious
This is a really important point: passion is contagious. When you talk about something you're really into, people around you start thinking, "What's that? I'm curious!" For example, I have a friend who talks a lot about the spiciness of curry. "This curry isn't just spicy; it's a blend of three types of chili peppers, and the depth is..." Listening to them, I think, "Is that what the world of curry is like!?" And because I was caught up in their passion, I started going around to different curry shops myself (lol).
So, if there's something you think is super interesting, go ahead and share it! If you talk passionately on a platform like Note, saying, "The thing I love, XX, is actually this amazing!" someone will definitely jump on board, saying, "Whoa, that's super interesting!" Because, honestly, everyone is a sucker for someone who's passionate about something.
But there is one thing to be careful about
However, if you take passion and obsession too far, it can sometimes make people think, "Whoa, that's a bit scary..." so balance is important. For example, the chopstick story is super interesting, but if you only talk about chopsticks every single day, you might lose some friends (lol). So, while showing your passion is great, it's good to mix in some humor, like, "Anyway, let's talk about something else for a bit..." Then people will think, "This person is really into it, but they're actually pretty cool!"
So, give it a try!
So, if you have an abnormal amount of passion and obsession for things everyone takes for granted, you'll definitely be seen as amazing! It can be anything. The softness of a tissue, the design of a plastic bottle cap, or how to wrap seaweed on a convenience store rice ball. Find something you think is super interesting, dig deep into it, and share it on Note! There's no doubt people will think, "Who is this person? They're amazing!"
Well, maybe I'll try getting into something obvious too. For now, I'll research the ease of opening convenience store plastic bags (lol). Everyone, try finding your own "obvious amazingness" too! Thanks! See ya! *˙︶˙*)ノ"
