My First Recording Experience
I didn't have any time to take photos at all. (lol)
However.
However.
In the end, I'm glad I went.
I spent weeks practicing intensely at home and in my car (in the parking lot before going to work).
There are so many stories to tell, so
I want to write about them in another article.
Well, I had never visited a music studio in my entire life, so I was worried about what I would do if some super rapper guy showed up (lol), or what I would do if some super hip-hop guy showed up (lol).
I spent my days surrounded and troubled by these imaginary guys in my head (lol).
When I arrived at the location by car, I saw the door.
Then, I was led to the basement.
I was already scared just by being led to the basement (lol).
It had an atmosphere that clearly felt like those imaginary guys would be there, and I arrived at a place that looked like a warehouse.
And before I opened the door, I heard the instrumental for 'Mama to Aruku Michi' (Since I was late, it seemed they had already checked the instrumental).
It was such an intense atmosphere.
For someone like me who only goes between daycare, work, and home, this was a world I couldn't even imagine.
When I suddenly opened the door,
M-san, who looked like a craftsman around my age or a little older, was sitting there.
I felt relieved. Because he was nothing like the imaginary guys (lol).
We immediately started adjusting the sound.
A huge DTM screen and various things were displayed.
Wow!! No, first of all, the equipment is amazing!
M-san
Um, was this produced on a Mac?
he asked,
Happu
Um... I did it all on my phone.
M-san
Huh? That must have been tough.
Happu
No, it really was tough.
Towards the end, the data was so heavy that I couldn't even fix the parts I wanted to, and I really struggled.
When I told them that,
they said, 'Why don't you listen to the audio for a moment!' and so,
I was allowed to listen to just the instrumental track.
When I did, the sound quality was completely different from usual, and the sloppiness of my songwriting stood out, and there were many places where I thought the sounds weren't aligned.
For some reason, I was overcome with a desire to fix it, like 'Oh no! 😭😭' And, there was this magic that made my own voice sound a little cute (lol).
I really felt that if I'm going to work hard at DTM,
I definitely need a computer.
We talked about various things for a while, and
finally, it was recording time.
The recording studio was on the other side of two doors.
It was a studio where a normal band would play,
with a vocal microphone stand and recording equipment placed there, and I would stand there and sing.
First, I recorded 'Mama to Aruku Michi' (The Road I Walk with Mom).
I put on the headphones, and here we go.
The first time was a full run-through. From the second time on, I sang in order from the first verse, and I would report the parts I was concerned about myself, or fix the parts where M-san asked, 'Could you re-sing just this part?'
Singing, listening, and correcting, over and over again.
This is similar to something.
That's right, it's the process of moving from composing to DTM!
Programming, listening, programming again, saving, and checking the sounds
on the Anpanman keyboard.
While recalling those days,
the recording progressed in perfect harmony.
Before I knew it, an hour had passed in the blink of an eye...
I mean, I was singing for that long?!
I was surprised by that fact.
I felt that when you really concentrate, you truly forget the time.
The reservation was for two hours, but due to various circumstances, I was 30 minutes late, and before I knew it, there were only 30 minutes left.
Wait, I won't be able to record 'Tsunagari no Hibi' (Days of Connection)!!!
Oh my.
So, I explained the situation to M-san, saying that I could only come here today, that I'd be busy next week, and that the next time after that would be during the Obon holiday, so what should I do... and I begged for help.😭😭
Then, they kindly said, 'Let's extend the time today and finish it all,' which was truly moving.
From there, we recorded 'Tsunagari no Hibi.'
It was decided that the rest would be edited at a later date.
I am truly grateful.
However, I felt that if I didn't practice much and just went in, I wouldn't know what kind of voice would satisfy me or how I should land on the way I want to sing.
Anyway, even if it's just a rough idea,
if I don't solidify the image and the music I want to create beforehand, I'll end up obsessing over the details on the day of the recording,
and I felt that I would get lost in a good way and wouldn't be able to give myself the go-ahead.
For both songs, the landing point was here.
Because I had thought about how I wanted to do it,
maybe that's why I was able to sing smoothly?!
With a limited budget,
they said they would send me the adjusted instrumental and vocal tracks at a later date.
They told me to let my husband and children listen to this, so that I won't have to do my music activities in secret anymore (lol).
I felt like they gave me a push to continue my music activities.
These two songs were made with the cooperation of so many different people until the very end.
I would be happy if you could all look forward to August 24th.\(^o^)/
Have a wonderful night tonight as well.🌟✨
May you and I both have the best luck and smiles.\(^o^)/
Every day is a good day.
