It has been exactly 5 years since Pao Pao passed away
Good morning.
Facebook's "On This Day" feature showed me the post from the day Pao Pao passed away. It has been exactly five years.
I know it might seem like I'm still dwelling on it, but every year around this time, the same post comes up and I remember Pao Pao.
This is the blog post from the day he passed, titled "Thank You So Much, Pao Pao."

Even after five years have passed, Pao Pao is still a frequent topic of conversation in our daily lives at home.
We have started talking about "welcoming a new puppy," but we haven't been able to take that step, and before we knew it, five years had gone by.
I vividly remember every place I went for daily walks with Pao Pao and the travel destinations we visited together.
I can recall the "Suigo Meguri" (water tour) in Omihachiman that I did with Pao Pao just the other day as if it were yesterday.
When I see small dogs in town, especially Shih Tzus, I find myself naturally drawn to them.
I think fellow dog lovers will understand, but often the dogs on the other side notice us and wag their tails too.
My spouse and I are getting older, and if we were to welcome a new dog, we are likely reaching the very last opportunity to do so.
While I feel a sense of anticipation about creating new memories with a new companion, I still find myself thinking back to Pao Pao.
Recently, with the development of generative AI, I have been secretly working on a "Pao Pao Revival Project."
Thanks to advancements in video generation AI technology like Sora2 and Veo3.1, it has become possible to recreate realistic videos of Pao Pao.
While I am not completely satisfied just by watching them, seeing the new moving images of Pao Pao makes me feel incredibly happy.
Also, when I feed memories from Pao Pao's blog into NotebookLM and ask questions, it returns answers that sound just like Pao Pao.
To be precise, they are answers that "sound like the Pao Pao I see."
But as this technology becomes useful in various situations, I am truly grateful to be able to cherish and look back on my memories in a different form.
