🎙️ For those of you who have too many things you want to do and can't decide | Fun Research Lab LIVE #02 Summary
Hello, I'm Ryoko Yabuuchi, the person who turns everything into a game.
I recently started live streaming on a whim.
This note is a summary of the archive content, organized for easy reading.

■ Having too many things you want to do, and getting stuck.
For those who are creating things or trying to start something on their own,
the situation of "having too many things you want to do and not being able to decide" is common, isn't it?
Actually, I'm the same way.
Ideas for things I want to do keep popping up one after another, but then I wonder, which one should I do first? How do I choose?
And so, time just passes by while I'm unable to choose.
■ Is a "goal" what you need to make a decision?
In my case, "increasing the number of people who live happily" is a major purpose in my life.
But there are many paths to get there, and I can't do them all right now.
That is precisely why, to decide "what to do now,"
I need to be firmly aware of the "goal" I am aiming for.
In game terms, it's like making sure you don't lose sight of "which area you are heading toward."
On top of that, you make choices about which command to select at this very moment.
■ Things that are not urgent but are important
There is a framework like this in a famous time management concept.
Urgent and important things (troubleshooting, deadline tasks, etc.)
Not urgent but important things (reflection, planning, learning, etc.)
Urgent but not important things (interruptions, notifications, etc.)
Neither urgent nor important things (just killing time)
What we tend to put off is "things that are not urgent but are important."
Often, the things we "really want to do" are actually hidden here.
Reflection, learning, organizing ideas, and sharing information.
That "time to build a foundation" is hard to see, but it is an important action that influences future results.
■ Sometimes making a commitment helps you take action
On the other hand, there are times when you can move because you feel like you "just have to do it."
For example, when you make a promise to someone.
Like saying, "I'll do a live stream next week!" or "Please have it delivered by such-and-such date!"
This is a state where the decision to "do it" has been made by external forces.
In other words, it also means that you have made a firm resolution within yourself.
That's why you can move.
■ "Actions unrelated to the goal" wouldn't be done in a game
Let me use a slightly extreme analogy here.
If life were an RPG,
wouldn't it be a bit unnatural to have a "protagonist who is full of energy today but keeps repeating the command to stay in bed"?
But in reality, we surprisingly find ourselves in that state, don't we?
Even though you have the energy and the time,
you can't move because you "don't know what to do."
I think that's because you either "don't know your destination" or "don't feel like you're heading toward that goal."
■ Just one step is enough. Try it, then think.
If you have too many things you want to do,
choose one from among them,"a step you can take today,"and try it out.
It could be looking something up, taking a note, or talking to someone.
If you try moving and realize, "This wasn't it," you can always go back.
That's not a failure; it's "exploration."
■ Finally: Questions to ask when you can't choose what you want to do
🔍 "Where is that 'thing you want to do' heading?"
🔍 "What is one small step you can take today toward that?"
🔍 "If this were a 'game,' which command would you choose?"
I feel that just by asking yourself these questions,
you will gradually become someone who "can make decisions."
