The Option of Gurkha Sandals
Hello. This is Ishikawa.
Thank you for coming to the "RAKINES/walenode 23AW Exhibition" the other day and for placing your orders. I hope it was a great opportunity for all of you. This week, from Friday the 10th to Sunday the 13th, we will be holding the “Slopeslow 23AW-24SS Exhibition” event. Since Slopeslow exhibitions are now held only once a year, please look forward to seeing the full year's collection.
And pollen has started to blend into our daily lives, hasn't it? Even though I didn't ask for it at all. It has that kind of annoying presence, like that one person in every grade. I wish it would just end with a quick "Hey!" and be done with it.
Along with the pollen, I feel the arrival of spring every year. The time to completely change up my fashion has come again this year. This spring/summer season, where things shift drastically from winter clothes, is a time I personally love. Especially this spring, my environment has changed, my goals have become clear, and since I am in a period of pushing forward every day, I am enjoying fashion with a beginner's mindset. I will report back on the new store soon. Please look forward to it.
So, I want to share this fresh feeling with all of you as well. That is why today, I would like to introduce my favorite "Giacometti" shoes. I also added that "something" I had been longing for to my collection to broaden my horizons.
F.LLI GIACOMETTI
(Fratelli Giacometti)
Fratelli Giacometti is the brand of the only remaining artisan manufacturer in the Veneto region of northern Italy, overlooking the Dolomites and the Alps. While shoemaking rooted in the region evolved in the world of sports, F.LLI GIACOMETTI has inherited the culture of handmade shoes. Today, as the only remaining men's shoe manufacturer in this area, they handle production for many top-tier brands for the global market.
Whether it's due to the influence of the recent American casual boom, or perhaps because I've seen too many opportunities to wear sneakers due to the unprecedented comeback of outdoor trends, it doesn't really matter, but lately, I've been wearing leather shoes quite often. Since I mostly wore leather shoes to begin with, I feel like my previous job helped me broaden my range.
Right now, MusterWerk has a significant lineup of Giacometti available. I would love for you to come and see them, but this time I will introduce the “Gurkha sandals” that I also purchased. I'll post photos of other styles at the end, so if there are any models you'd like to know more about, please feel free to DM me.
Since the owner is a huge leather shoe enthusiast and I see them every day, I am heavily influenced by him. As I mentioned above, I want to wear leather shoes now. I have one pair of loafers, and they are great. I really wear them a lot. However, it is the season for it. In the midst of feeling the arrival of spring, why not start by filling in your must-have footwear items so you don't get left behind by the changing seasons? That is the idea behind this post.
Gurkha Sandals
“FG166”

Fratelli Giacometti has a career of supporting the leather shoes of big fashion houses like Hermes and Gucci as an OEM. Although Gurkha sandals have a strong casual impression, I feel an overflowing elegance in these made by Giacometti that cannot be hidden. From now on, I will wear them with socks. Was that the reason for my previous suggestions? Please try them with daughter's silk socks. Also, because the design covers a large area of leather and has a good balance of skin exposure without showing your toes, it is a dual-wielding style that allows you to feel the characteristics of both casual sandals and leather shoes in a well-balanced way. Mr. Ohtani is amazing, isn't he?
The greatest strength of the Gurkha sandal, which was born as a military boot, is undoubtedly its "ease of wear." That was the first thing I felt when I put them on. I thought, 'What is this?' The design features four straps engineered across the instep and ankle that softly wrap around the foot. It is a specification that fits and moves in perfect harmony with the foot's motion. Because it is a military shoe created with an emphasis on practicality capable of withstanding activities on the harsh battlefield, it delivers maximum performance with a minimal, no-nonsense design.

Italian shoes are characterized by a beauty akin to works of art. They lack the ruggedness of American shoes and the classicism of British shoes. The Blake construction, a specialty of Italian footwear, increases durability by gluing the sole and upper together and then stitching them with thread coated in pine resin. This construction method, which offers high practicality and design without interfering with the thin soles or slim lasts typical of Italian shoes, is also used in this F.lli Giacometti FG166. Being lightweight and having a flexible sole are also among its features. Since it puts little strain on the feet from the very first wear, the Blake construction pairs perfectly with the highly practical Gurkha sandal. This was the secret to why it was so comfortable to wear from the start.

For the FG166, F.lli Giacometti has adopted the "hidden channel" finish for the leather sole, which has become a staple in their lineup of leather shoes. The hidden channel, which requires time, effort, and high technical skill, is a construction method often used in bespoke shoes as well. Furthermore, the fact that there is almost no decorative bottom finishing, and the outsole specification leaves no room for deception, allows one to feel the high level of skill and confidence of the only remaining long-established shoe manufacturer in Italy. I love it.

And the one I want to recommend is this "pure white horse suede" Gurkha sandal that I also bought. I've never seen anything like it. This is a masterpiece that the owner of Muster has been using for about two years now. As someone who has been visiting since the opening, I have been watching it all this time. The more you look at it,has finally led me to make the decision here and now. It features the comfortable fit of the "FAUSTO" sandal last that Giacometti possesses. It has solid durability, with kangaroo leather sandwiched at the opening to prevent stretching. I heard that this model was almost no longer being imported into Japan. However, thanks to the Muster owner's generosity, his desire to pursue what he loves, and his slightly crazy sensibility, he said, "I managed to keep them for this season as well." I don't know the details, but if you are worried about colors or materials, please let me recommend this white suede without a doubt. You might not be able to get it again. With the essence of such a high-spec FG166 left intact, why not try being wrapped in white suede Gurkha sandals this summer?
