I watched the dubbed version of Episode 1 of "THE LAST OF US"

About a week ago, I finished playing "The Last of Us Part I," including the additional story.
There were many twists and turns before I even started, but I'm really glad I was able to play it to the end.
I was quite shocked.
It is truly a wonderful masterpiece.
I heard that the Platinum Trophy for "The Last of Us Part I" is not too difficult to obtain, so I want to do my best to collect the trophies.
Once I get the Platinum Trophy, I'm thinking of playing "Part II" as well, but I also want to play "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II" with the DualSense Edge I managed to buy the other day, and I also want to play the long-awaited blockbuster "Hogwarts Legacy" that was released last week, so I feel it will be difficult to proceed as planned.
Now, regarding "The Last of Us," it has been adapted into an original drama series on HBO in the United States.
I had heard about the drama adaptation, and since it was a game I had played at the time of its release, I was a little interested.
To be honest, the influence of the drama adaptation is part of the reason I resumed the game and played it to the end.
Another reason was that Pedro Pascal, who played the lead in "The Mandalorian," also plays the protagonist Joel in the drama.
What's more, it's wonderful that the Japanese dub of the drama version features the same cast as the game.
However, since the streaming platform is U-NEXT, I didn't think I would be able to watch it because I didn't want to add another subscription.
But, the dubbed version of the first episode was released for free for a limited time.
I just had to watch it.
So, this time, I would like to summarize my thoughts after watching the dubbed version of the first episode of the drama "THE LAST OF US".
I received the exact same shock as when I played the game.
THE LAST OF US
An infectious disease caused by a fungus that parasitizes the human body breaks out. Twenty years after the pandemic, civilization has collapsed in America, and survivors are fighting for power. Joel, one of the survivors, is tasked by Marlene, the leader of the "Fireflies," to act as a smuggler to get an unidentified girl named Ellie out of the quarantine zone. What started as a small job eventually develops into a grueling journey, and the two must cross the entire United States, which is infested with the infected, to survive...
Thoughts on Episode 1
Episode 1 is 80 minutes long, but it was such a dense story that I didn't feel the time passing.
I usually watch foreign works in their original language, but I felt no discomfort at all with the dubbed version I watched this time.
It was great that the same cast as the game version was in charge of the dubbing.
It started with a TV broadcast talking about the horror of fungi from the very beginning, and I was moved that the opening music was exactly the same as the game.
The beginning of the game starts from the perspective of Sarah, the protagonist Joel's daughter, and the drama was the same.
The game starts with the night scene, but the drama depicted the events leading up to that night.
It was terrifying to see everyday life gradually breaking down, and the depiction of the infected in live-action was truly scary.
And I was reminded once again that the beginning of the story is heavy.
I was shocked all over again.
The story was very good, but I also felt the respect for the game in the camerawork.
I was especially moved that the camera after Joel, Tommy, and Sarah got into the car was the same as in the game.
The fine details are original to the drama, but basically it is almost the same as the game.
However, since I have played the original to the end, I could understand the content of the conversation between Ellie and Marlene, and strangely, it felt like I was playing the game for the second time.
The drama version was adapted with a focus on human relationships, which had a positive effect on the story.
For example, the relationship with the neighbors was depicted in detail at the beginning, and there was also an original depiction of the relationship between Joel and the military within the quarantine zone.
Each had a shocking impact later on, and although they were original elements, they were quite good.
I want to watch the rest soon.

Season 1 consists of 9 episodes, and it is expected to cover up to the end of "Part I".
I feel that playing "Part II" is essential for Season 2 as well.
