Why I chose German 🇩🇪.

🌟 Are you struggling to decide which language to learn?

When you decide to learn a language, the first hurdle you face is likely
the question of "which language to choose."

English and Chinese have many speakers and are highly practical.
That is undeniable.

Even so, if you look toward Europe, German is an influential language with a significant number of speakers.

"Is it useful?"
or
"Does it move my heart?"

I was torn between those two for a long time.

🌟 Actually, I was drawn to other languages too

The soft sound of French.
Korean, which I felt familiar with through Korean dramas.

For me, both were attractive, and I was seriously conflicted.

Even so, the reason I ultimately chose German was
because I loved the country of Germany itself.

And because I wanted to know more deeply about European culture and history.

The most important thing in choosing a language
"might be whether you can truly say you want to learn it from your heart."

🌟 My encounter with Germany

When I was in high school, I had the opportunity to visit Germany.

Cobblestone streets. Cute half-timbered houses.
Imposing buildings that make you feel history.

"I want to know more about this country."

The moment I thought that was the beginning of everything.

Triggered by that experience, in university, I chose to study not only the German language
but also German culture and literature.

🌟 German was harder than I thought

But the ideal and the reality were different.

Starting with the alphabet,
noun genders (der, die, das), and the relentlessly changing case declensions.

Honestly, there were times I felt like giving up.
There were days I felt anxious, wondering if I could keep going.

Even so, strangely enough, I never came to hate it.

Being able to read a little more German bit by bit. The number of words I can understand increasing.
Those small accumulations were what made me happiest of all.

🌟Current Goal

Right now, I am studying with the goal of passing the Goethe-Institut B1 exam.
Why "B1"?

There is a reason for that, in my own way, right now.

Next time, I would like to write about that reason.
