[Solo Parenting Part 4] How to spend a holiday without Dad? I tried karaoke for 2 hours with my 6-year-old!
There are times when I have to spend time with my daughter (who is in her final year of preschool) while my husband is away.
What should we do? I often find myself at a loss. Plus, it's autumn now. If it were a warmer season, I could just let her run wild in the park for an hour or so to kill time. But the temperature doesn't really allow for that. Well, my daughter is a child of the wind, so she'd be fine, but I'm the one who's likely to catch a cold (lol).
I rack my brain wondering,how on earth can I spend time with my energetic daughter to wear her out?
That's when I came up with the idea ofkaraoke! Karaoke is a private room, so it's warm and it's not dangerous even if I take my eyes off her for a bit. And above all,
it's something we can enjoy together as parent and child! Isn't that great? So, we went!✨

It was our first time at karaoke in about three years.
The last time was when we used the karaoke room at a Japanese inn we stayed at during a trip. But it was after dinner, and my daughter only had about three songs she knew...
My daughter got bored and retired early. Since my husband and daughter went back to the room, I ended up singing solo (lol).
I'm not good at singing alone becauseI can't sing continuously. I find myself wanting a break.
But now, my daughter is 6 years old. She knows more songs too. (Mostly songs from 'Okaasan to Issho' though.)
I always like looking at other people's history on the Denmoku (remote), so I've decided to publish the list of songs we sang this time. Please use it as a reference when you go to karaoke with your children♪ (Songs my daughter sang are in bold.)

We started with my daughter's 'Tulip' and ended with 'Tulip' (^^)
What I really regretted was thatI didn't know the latest songs and couldn't sing them at all. I was surprised when I looked at the Denmoku ranking!
The top 5 songs were all songs I couldn't sing💦 When I was a student, I kept up with trends, so it made me sad to realize I've become completely out of touch. Plus, it had been so long that I couldn't even get my mouth around the songs I used to sing all the time, it was a mess (crying).
My daughter sang 'Tulip' many times. She also seems to like 'Yoru ni Kakeru' because it's popular at preschool, so she tried that many times too. When she got tired, she drank juice, ate snacks, or rolled around.
She seemed to have a great time, so we even made a promise to go to karaoke again
! I have songs I want to sing, so I'm going to practice at home before I try again (am I being too serious? lol). Also, I want to create a song list so thatmy daughter and I can take turns singing
