[The First-Grade Barrier Part 2] How many times do I need to take time off work before school starts?
My daughter will be starting elementary school next year.
Since we are a dual-income household, I am already feeling the 'first-grade barrier.'
I'd like you to listen to me, as this will mostly be a rant.

About a month ago, I received a notice from the local government regarding the pre-enrollment health checkup.
It seems that doctors from several hospitals come to the school she is scheduled to attend, so the health checkup can be done all at once.
The schedule for this is, as a matter of course, in the middle of a weekday.
It was written that if you cannot make it on that day, you have to visit each hospital at your own expense.
(Don't be ridiculous lol)
This means I have no choice but to make the schedule work no matter what.
However, at that point, it was written as a "provisional" schedule.
A notice arrives just before the date, and that schedule is apparently the correct one.
Excuse me?
I needed to adjust my work schedule based on the provisional date as soon as possible.
Since it was already confirmed that I could not take time off due to work deadlines, I asked my husband.
And so, I waited anxiously for the official schedule notice, but it didn't come for a long time.
It arrived one week before the actual day.
Excuse me?(Again lol)
It was fortunate that it was the same as the provisional schedule, but do they think that people in private companies can take time off so easily? (Rant)
I felt the barrier with the local government.
🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅🎄🎅
On the day of the pre-enrollment health checkup, my husband came home with even more notice documents.
There is the "elementary school orientation" and the "after-school care orientation".
Naturally, they are on different days, and weekdays at that.
Excuse me?(3rd time lol)
Are you kidding me?
On top of that, it seems there is also a sale of items necessary for enrollment by various designated local vendors.
Am I supposed to carry all that heavy stuff home by hand?
What a pain. (My true feelings are slipping out)
Can't we just do this online.
And it's cash payment only.
Is there even a need for these specific local vendors anymore? (That's harsh)
It's nothing against those vendors.
I just don't see the necessity for everyone to have the exact same items.
And when I read the notice carefully,
it said, "You may bring your child to the orientation, but please keep them seated quietly"
written there.
Excuse me?(4th time lol)
That's impossible.
Friends from daycare will also be attending that same elementary school.
There is no way they will sit quietly if all their friends are at the orientation together.
Reckless.
My values don't align with the government office or the school.
I was caught off guard thinking they were still just daycare kids, but how many more days will I have to take off work?
Why are these on weekdays?
At the very least, I wish they would schedule them on the same day.
It's hard to take time off work, and even if I do, I have to make up for the work on another day, plus I'm worried about how many paid leave days I have left.
Besides, it seems like it's better not to bring the child along, so I also have to find someone to look after them.
It's a headache.
From here on, I have a proposal regarding the information sessions held at school.
Why not hold them online?
If you provide an archive, not just a live stream, I can check it on my day off.
If there are any questions, if you could prepare a chatbot (something that automatically responds to questions asked in chat; if it's not a frequently asked question, it can be replied to in the chat), I'll enter them there.
Elementary school students are given laptops, right?
Isn't it time to stop doing things analog-style?
I know the teachers are busy, but I'm not exactly free either.
Also, I'd like you to stop distributing information guides on paper, and instead set up a parent page on the school's website and upload them. I'll go check them.
While you're at it, I'd also like the overall schedule leading up to enrollment. (I'm asking for a lot)
That was the blunt Aono saying whatever she wanted.
Thank you for bearing with me.

That's right. I think I'll let them know that they are doing well.
