【へっぽこ英会話2Months④】日本文化"干支"を英語でしゃべってみた
子育てをしていると、日本の行事や文化について、学び直す機会が多くある。というのも、娘（小学１年生）が保育園や学校で習ってくるからである。
今回は、干支について、英語で話をしてみたい。
I want to talk about a Japanese story.
That is the zodiac.
They have a similar story in China.
中国にも似たお話があります。
Once upon a time, On New Year's Eve, there were God and 13 animals.
God said if you can come to me tomorrow, One by one animal will be at the top of the world for the whole year .
神は、明日私の元に来れたら、一匹ずつその年のトップにすると言いました。
On New Year's Eve at midnight, Twelve animals worked hard to get to God.
Because God's house is in heaven, above the clouds.
神は雲の上の天国にいるからです。
On New Year's day, when the Ox went to see God, the Rat was there too.
Because The Rat was very cunning.
The Rat climbed onto the Ox, it didn't walk.
鼠はずるがしこいので、歩かず、牛の上に乗っていたからです。
But the Rat was the first to reach God because it run fast.
Next is Ox.
10 other animals could reach God.
They were able to reach God on New Year's Day.
次は、牛です。
他の１０匹の動物たちも到着しました。
元日に。
But the cat couldn't because the Rat gave the cat the wrong date.
That is the day after New Year's Day.
It lied.
The cat was sleeping on New Year's day, it never reached God.
The story is finish.
元旦の翌日だと。
それは嘘でした。
猫は元旦に寝ていて、到着することができませんでした。
おしまい。
Many Japanese people use the zodiac, when you tell others how old you are.
It is a way of communicating unique to Japanese.
When I find someone with the same zodiac as me , It makes me happy .
But if I'm older, I'm a little bit sad.
Because 12 years old different for someone.
日本独自のコミュニケーションです。
同じ干支を見つけた時、私は嬉しくなります。
でも私の方が年上なら、少し悲しくなります。
なぜなら１２年違うからです。
※最近の若い人（２０代以下）は、干支を使わないを知っているが、これは英語で日本文化を伝える練習なので、聞き流してほしい。
この話題の後、講師の生まれた年を聞き出し（What year were you born）、干支を教えるとさらに話が盛り上がった。
カナダ人と話をしていたときに、中国のzodiacは知っているよと言われた。彼は、pigらしい。でも日本の干支にはpigはいない。そのかわりwild boar（イノシシ）はいることは伝えた。
中国の干支は以下の通り。
There are 12 Chinese zodiac signs, in the following order: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.
それから、アメリカでは、zodiacは星座として使われていて、年ではなく月で区切るらしい。
私は３月生まれなのだが、piscesと教えてもらった。魚らしい。
実際に"うお座"なので、日本の星座と一緒かなと思った。
日本独特の文化やお話は他にもたくさんあると思う。
他にも英語で話せるようになりたい！とは思うけれど、なかなか時間はかかりそうだ。
