Weekly Short-Short Note: 'Tempting Ginkgo'
A small Japanese-style restaurant I happened to stop by on my way home from work.
I understood immediately why it was bustling with regulars.
First of all, the food is delicious. Everything has a homey, gentle flavor that is wonderful. In particular, the way the simmered dishes were cooked and their glaze were outstanding.
And the landlady is beautiful. A kimono with a ginkgo pattern on a purple background suits her well. The mole near her mouth is alluring.
I was completely captivated and started visiting the shop every week.
After a while, having become a regular customer, I gathered the courage to ask the landlady.
"Would you like to go see a movie sometime when the shop is closed?"
"Yes, I don't mind."
I was taken aback by how easily she agreed.
The eggplant simmered in broth I ate that day tasted especially delicious.
On her day off, the landlady was in a rough outfit of a white cut-and-sew top and jeans, which was beautiful in its own way. When she brushed her hair back, a ginkgo-shaped earring peeked out.
After watching the movie, we went for yakiniku at her request, and when she said she didn't want to go home, I let her stay at my place.
I was completely enthralled by an assertiveness I hadn't imagined.
Five years have passed since then, and now I enjoy the landlady's cooking at home every day.

I am participating in Tarahakani-san's short-short project again this week.
With the theme being 'Tempting Ginkgo,' I wrote a god-tier situation about being tempted by a woman who evokes the image of a ginkgo.
At first, I read it as 'ginnan' (ginkgo nut) instead of 'icho' (ginkgo tree), so I was just thinking of steamed egg custard or roasted ginkgo nuts 😅
If you like it, please give it a 'like' or leave a comment.
I write a short-short every week.
