Grades 1-3 are the Best Season: Reading Habits Support the Future
Grades 1-3 are the Best Season
A period when absorption capacity grows significantly
This period, when self-awareness awakens, children can use their time freely, and their horizons expand greatly, is the best time for doing anything.
Children absorb things into themselves by imitating various things. Furthermore, as parents, you can still provide plenty of hands-on care.
And, the things they can do will continue to increase.
Things more important than academics
Studies up to the third grade of elementary school are not yet full-scale. If they are doing things normally, there will not be a large gap.
That is precisely why, during this time when there is leeway, parents get greedy, wanting them to do this and that.
At this age, what parents say is still absolute to the child.
Please take a close look at whether they are engrossed in their lessons or cram school. Make sure they do not suffer from indigestion.
And, please let them be free with what they are interested in. That play will turn into learning.
Recommendation for reading
At Taishi Juku, we believe that 'reading' plays a major role in that play.
There is a significant relationship between a child's academic ability and their reading habits. Students with high academic ability have acquired a reading habit at some point.
Between grades 1 and 3, there are no time constraints from others. You can use your time to your heart's content for 'reading'.
Children who love books take them wherever they go. Since they read in their spare time, there is no need for you as a parent to worry about 'how to make them study'.
You just need to provide them with books.
Reading habits support the future
From the fourth grade of elementary school, and when they become junior high school students, the level of learning content rises all at once, and the amount of study increases dramatically.
However, children with reading habits do not need to panic. Even if they start late, they will definitely catch up later.
Summary
Grades 1-3 are the perfect time for parents to gift their children an 'environment with books'.
Rather than 'making them study,' 'make them read.' That will become an important foundation that connects to the future.
