As a metalhead, I'm going to talk about the way I listen to metal that I absolutely never do.

Do you all like metal?
I'm a terminal metalhead who only wants to listen to it when I'm supposed to be quiet.
It's already at a terminal stage.

For some reason, the noon time signal in my rural hometown
is out of tune and has definitely turned into a horror-style piece. These days, I'm worried that newcomers will be terrified and run away.
Since people are already going to be scared, and it's incredibly unpleasant for those listening, I'm planning to beg the mayor to play metal instead.

I've been worrying every day about what I should do and what I should play, but I can't seem to find an answer, so I'm thinking about distributing flyers in the neighborhood to conduct a survey on what kind of songs people want to hear!!

By the way, I think Devourment's Babykiller would be good. There are a lot of elderly people around, after all! I think a fun lunch time could become even more enjoyable thanks to its beautiful melody...

I've listened to a lot of metal albums and bands, both old and new. From the pioneers of metal to the trendy, now-metal of today. I don't have any prejudices when it comes to metal, so if I think it's good, I'll listen to it regardless of the era! After all, listening to various things is purely fun, and there are new discoveries!
Feeling and enjoying metal from the heart! I think that's the most important thing.

However, metalheads are a bit of a troublesome breed.
Some say they only recognize old school. Others say metalcore is crap and for posers. Some say classic metal and the pioneers of metal are music for old geezers.
Well, even though we say "metal" in one word, there's quite a lot of conflict... But for some reason, they join hands to criticize commercial pop music, which metalheads generally don't like.

I feel like it's similar to the dynamic where Giants fans and Hanshin fans, who were fighting until yesterday, start cheering for Japan as "Samurai Japan" once the WBC begins.

I mean, metalheads are pretty selfish, aren't they...

I always think they should just listen to whatever they want.
Since it's all the same metal, they should just get along and listen to it.

And American metalheads are especially blatant about that.
The so-called "buff macho" type of metalhead.
To put it bluntly, the stereotype of a metalhead. People with the "The Metalhead" look.

Metalheads with this look
basically live within a narrow category.
They love death metal dearly and boast that anything other than death metal is crap.

Thrash and NWOBHM are okay.
But Def Leppard is a gray zone. They are scary people who say they'll kill you if you put melodies into metal.
They acknowledge Iron Maiden's melodies! They're like "Hell yeah," but they won't acknowledge anything else lol

They are very troublesome guys, but
the metal they write is, at any rate, brutal and heinous, and yet cool.

But they won't forgive you if you get flashy.

The metalcore bands I like.
They are basically stylish and many of them are good-looking.
Such metalheads basically become targets of attack.

"Hey, what's with that hairstyle? And that fashion!? I can't forgive that."

They say.

And the modern metalheads who are criticized for that
also criticize them, saying they like the music but that style is lame.

*This is purely a joke and a stereotypical take, so please don't take it seriously...

Those kinds of conflicts between metalheads continue day after day, don't they?

However, metal continues to evolve year after year.
Just when you think Djent has arrived, even more advanced music keeps popping up one after another.
If you stand firm and try to swim against that current, I think you'll just end up being pushed to the sidelines.

Old-school metal is cool too!
The roots of metal are definitely cool.
But if you don't have the style to acknowledge that the latest metal is also cool, you might end up becoming a grumpy old man.

"Kids these days don't get it!!" and so on...

When I open a streaming service and put on a compilation of the latest metal,
there are tons of amazing bands I didn't even know existed.
There are countless bands I wonder why I didn't listen to sooner, and I keep finding nothing but great songs.

And so, I keep absorbing them and growing to love them more and more.
That's the best way to listen, isn't it?

I think you shouldn't get stuck in your ways, saying things like "I will never accept this style" or something similar.
You should listen to your favorite genres while still acknowledging others.
I think that's the true meaning of enjoying metal.

Well, if you don't like it, there's no need to force yourself, haha.

When you type "metal" into the Google search box,
"metalheads are annoying" always comes up, lol.

Metal is already disliked enough as it is,
so if you go against the grain and say, "I only listen to what I believe in," you'll just be disliked even more, lol.

If metalheads stand at the gate and sift through people, saying "this one is good" or "this one is bad," newcomers won't be able to enter... It's scary, after all.

Metal is already thought of as being for weirdos anyway,
and it's an underground genre,
so I thought, why not just honestly accept that and have everyone get along, acknowledge each other, and enjoy it?

Wait. Could it be that I'm the most annoying one for saying all this...?

That can't be right, can it...?

Now I'm starting to worry...

Well, just enjoy it! That's all there is to it!!
