Meeting Yasuhiro Matsuo

It was around August 2017, when I was working as a recruiter at my previous job.
Right after returning from my first-ever business trip to Vietnam, I encountered him at a meeting I was invited to by a friend.My first impression was, 'This guy has incredibly high energy.'Since I was working in the childcare business, I was also interested in the fact that he
started a business in Vietnam and was running a kindergarten.there.

Reunion

In December 2021, having completely forgotten about that one-time meeting, I suddenly received a message on Facebook Messenger.
It said, 'Long time no see, Sasaki-san,' but honestly, I was in a state of 'Who was this person again?' (laughs).
At the same time I remembered he was that person from back then, I saw the words'I've started running a nursery school in Hayama,'and I felt like I wanted to hear more about it.
Having been in the childcare industry, I thought,'It's not normal for a private company to be able to run a licensed nursery school in Hayama, is it?? What's going on?'

And so, we reunited for the first time in four years. The first thing I thought was'This person's radiance is completely different from four years ago?! What happened in these four years?'

Why I decided to work with him

I thought it would expand the possibilities of my life.

At the time of our reunion, I was struggling with work.
At my previous job, the company I joined during its startup phase had grown rapidly, experienced an IPO, and my position was secure. I had been there for 13 years. If I stayed on this path, I would have been set for life.
Yet, for some reason, I felt uneasy.While realizing that I had completely lost my sense of excitement, I had been muddling through for years.

I was smoldering, wondering, 'Is this really all there is for me?'

When I talked about that unease, he listened as seriously as if it were his own problem.
He asked follow-up questions like, 'Why did you think that?' and 'What kind of things, for example?' and carefully helped me put my thoughts into words by saying, 'Isn't it something like this?'
As we talked, I realized, 'Oh, that's why I'm struggling,' and my unease seemed to clear up. That day, it actually lasted five hours (laughs).

At the end, he told me, 'You should know your own value more.'

Believing in my own potential and being encouraged to take on challenges

Having decided to face the feelings I had been ignoring, I started challenging myself with various things. Whenever I wanted to organize my thoughts or hit a wall, I consulted him and relied on him. Each time, he faced me with complete seriousness.

Thinking back on it now, it was like receiving high-quality sessions, or coaching, for free (laughs).But that was likely because he felt that I was serious about changing my life.

What I think about working here

Above all else, he is a hyper-charismatic connector. No matter where he goes, he changes the atmosphere in an instant and makes friends. I think he has natural talent, but I also believe much of it has been polished through effort.

The depth of his thinking was beyond my imagination.
I am often surprised, thinking, "You've thought through it to that extent?!"He is especially serious when facing his employees and provides feedback, so if you're spacing out, you might get burned sometimes. (Conversely, if he's spacing out, I take the opportunity to give him feedback right back...!)

There are many anecdotes about his absent-mindedness, like accidentally eating breakfast at the hotel next to the one he's staying at.
