Do you know the story of Ikkyu-san's clothesline?
I've started wearing my winter coat🍂
It's a story I heard from an acquaintance of several years, but
do you know the story of Ikkyu-san's clothesline?
If you pull a string taut,
it breaks easily when some force is applied,
but by keeping the string loose,
it can flexibly adapt even when force is applied.
I believe that was the story.
※If you know the details, please let me know in the comments🙏
This story
is just like me when I'm working😂
When I'm tense,
I can't see what's around me or I lack composure,
but when I'm relaxed and have some breathing room,
it often leads to higher quality output in the end.
Come to think of it,
someone once said to me while I was working hard to avoid mistakes in a short time,
"You're really focused, aren't you?"
I think I must have looked scary myself😌
By the way, in the Harvard Business Review,
it says this.
The "85% Rule" of not giving 100% effort brings out the best performance.
In other words, it is a method of refraining from maximum effort.
Especially for serious juniors and subordinates,
rather than abstract advice like "take it easy" or "it's fine,"
it is easier to improve by conveying the easy-to-understand numerical "85% Rule"😊👍
