[Werewolf] Role Symbols
It would surely be convenient if roles could be represented by a single symbol. Or rather, it would be more than just convenient.
Well, that is assuming you know which symbol represents which role.
However, since it would be a lot of work to create individual symbols for every single role, I will limit the symbols to those that are practical.
◆Standard 6 Roles
First, I will create symbols for the 6 roles: Werewolf, Madman, Bodyguard, Seer, Medium, and Villager.
・Werewolf

Claw marks. If you need to distinguish between werewolves, add more diagonal lines.
The color is, of course, black.
・Madman

Kuru-Kuru
By making the shape and color similar to the Villager, it represents 'something else that looks like a human'.
It is a dark gray—a dull color—that sits between the Werewolf and the Villager.
・Bodyguard

It is derived from the pictograph of a shield, to a square with a line, to two squares.
The color is one of the two primary colors, Orange.
・Seer

It is derived from the pictograph of an eye, to a dotted eye, to a diamond with a dot.
The color is one of the two primary colors, green.
・Medium

It is derived from the pictograph of smoke, to connected smoke, to two horizontal triangles.
The color is one of the two primary colors, purple.
・Villager

A simple circle, the color is gray.
White is also acceptable, but it depends on the background color.
When distinguishing from village variants, use double circles or chain-style circles. For example, for Saint or Shared, etc.
◆Special
Now, for the next commonly seen special roles... although, in fact, while they are standard, the four roles of Madman, Bodyguard, Seer, and Medium are also special expansion roles.
After all, the Werewolf game can theoretically function as long as there are wolves and villagers.
...So, here are the roles that, while called special, actually don't differ much from the standard four roles.
・3rd Faction: Life/Death Type

Survival types use a yellow star, death types use a blue teardrop.
These are used specifically for the roles themselves that directly relate to victory conditions.
・4th Faction: Love Type

Used specifically for the lovers themselves. Easy to understand.
The 3rd and 4th factions are grouped with pale colors.
◆General Purpose
For special roles that appear even less frequently, let's use general-purpose symbols instead of creating individual ones. And since they aren't used very often, I've grouped them with dark colors that are easy to remember.
With this, you should be able to cover everything for practical purposes.
・5th Faction

There are various 5th factions, but the most well-known is probably the Piper. I matched it to this.
Well, I made it a ♪ so it can be used for anything. Since there were colors left over, I chose red.
・Special A

Use this for other special roles. The faction is not fixed.
I am assuming roles like Hunter, Shared, Necromancer, Special Wolf, Traitor, etc.
・Special B

The usage overlaps, but use these if Special A is not enough. As long as the color doesn't clash with ?, feel free to choose as you like.
This should be enough to set up a special village.
It is not enough for setups with more than 12 roles, but for those kinds of chaotic setups, please create new symbols to accommodate them.
◆ Concept
I will talk about the concept behind each symbol.
First, the two roles that are the foundation of the Werewolf game: Werewolf and Villager.
These were fixed as a 'black X' and a 'white O'. I have covered them with expandability in mind.
Also, to maintain their function as symbols, the Villager is adjusted to gray, assuming use on a white background. (It wasn't intentionally made gray during the concept stage.)
Next is the Madman.
The color is between the Wolf and the Village. It is a dark, dull gray.
The shape represents 'not a villager', so it is a swirl.
It is often called a 'spinning' mark, after all.
Then, the so-called 'Big Three'—Bodyguard, Seer, and Medium—are recognized as standard roles in society, but considering the principles of the Werewolf game, I treated these as 'famous special roles'.
Therefore, instead of the three primary colors of red, blue, and yellow, I assigned the secondary colors of orange, green, and purple.
The shapes are also slightly modified from basic geometric shapes like circles, crosses, triangles, and squares. This is to express that 'these are not fundamental roles'.
From here on, the third to fifth factions.
The remaining colors are the three primary colors, so I will use those.
However, using the primary colors as they are would lose consistency, as it would be strange to use primary colors for special roles, so I changed them to pale yellow, blue, and pink to match.
The shapes are star, tear, and heart, as they can perfectly represent survival, death, and lovers. They also go well with the color scheme.
The primary color red was left over, so I assigned it to the musical note symbol. This is the only place where consistency is broken, but since there was nothing else to match it with, I paired the leftover color with the leftover role. It really was just left over.
Finally, the ? and !! symbols.
These are reserve symbols for when you are putting together even more special roles among the special ones. They cover roles that cannot be handled even with the four symbols for special factions.
I wanted plain colors, so I chose dark ones. I darkened red to brown and blue to indigo.
As for the shapes, I assigned ? and !! because they were decided from the initial stage to be used for general purposes.
With this concept, you can handle 12 roles.
