■ This Week's Story
【Guest Characters】
Ippei Zaizen...65 years old. Businessman.
Seiji Kawabata...53 years old. Antique appraiser
Shinya Kadokura...46 years old. Antique dealer
Kyoko Tominaga...32 years old. Proprietress of an old folk house inn
Conan, Ran, and Kogoro arrive at an old folk house inn after receiving a request. The client is the inn's proprietress, Kyoko Tominaga, who asked for protection after receiving a warning email stating that her "treasure would be targeted." That day, experts had gathered at the inn to open an old safe found during renovations. When businessman Ippei Zaizen opens the safe, a Meiji-era 20-yen gold coin is revealed. It is the first coin issued after the yen became the currency in the Meiji era, and a Meiji 10 specimen is valuable, worth 30 million yen. While antique appraiser Seiji Kawabata and antique dealer Shinya Kadokura seem excited, Kyoko looks dissatisfied. It seems to be because Zaizen came to negotiate yesterday and bought the entire safe before it was even opened.
At dinner time, while the others are eating, Zaizen does not come out of his room in the detached house. Sounds of metal clashing can be heard from the room, and it seems he is obsessed with counting the gold coins he obtained. While everyone except Zaizen is gathered in the main house talking, a fire suddenly breaks out in the detached room!
Inspector Megure and the others arrive at the scene and consider the possibility that someone broke in from the outside, killed Zaizen, and stole the gold coins, given that the room's window was broken and there were footprints in the backyard. However, it seems everyone at the inn also had a grudge against Zaizen... Who is the culprit of this incident, and where did the missing gold coins go?
■ This Week's Review
Is this one of the best anime-original episodes in recent years!?
First of all, the animation by Keiko Sasaki is great! Recently, it's become rare to see animation of this quality... Especially in night scenes, flaws usually stand out, but this time the moon was beautiful!
And the script is so interesting!!!
It's a trick-oriented mystery reminiscent of scripts by Toyoto Kogiso or Takeo Ono. It also reminded me of "The Hot Trap of Chocolate."
In terms of using scientific tricks, I feel it's quite close to recent original manga chapters.
Speaking of tricks using candles, the "Burning Tent Mystery" series from Volume 93also comes to mind.
Ran also had a proper role, and it felt like the old Detective Conan, which made me feel so relieved.
I won't ask for it every week, but I'd love to see anime-original episodes of this quality once a month. Is that too much to ask...?
《Other Small Thoughts》
● The victim is such an unpleasant guy~
● Conan having sauce wiped off around his mouth by Ran
● Ran: "The moon is beautiful, isn't it?"
● The evidence-gathering presentation is like Danganronpa
The part where you get the Truth Bullets
● Conan practicing the scientific trick with Ran and Detective Takagi assisting him lol
■ About This Week's Guest Voice Actors
Guest voice actors are: Ippei Zaizen: Mitsuaki Hoshino, Seiji Kawabata: Manabu Muraji, Kyoko Tominaga: Yuki Kokuryu, Shinya Kadokura: Tsuyoshi Koyama.
The voice of the inn's proprietress, Kyoko Tominaga, is Yuki Kokuryu!
She has a husky voice and has played many boy roles such as Chibita in "Mr. Osomatsu," Arthur in "The Seven Deadly Sins," and Taiga Yagura in "Tomica Hyper Rescue Drive Head: Mobile Emergency Police."
This is her second appearance in Conan since "The Surprise is the Beginning of a Tragedy"!
The culprit, Shinya Kadokura, was played by Tsuyoshi Koyama!
He co-starred with Rikiya Koyama in "Utawarerumono" as Kurou. Because he likes dirty jokes, listeners called him "Clean Koyama / Dirty Koyama."
I feel like he often plays characters who fight, like Gentsu Senbu in "Busou Renkin" or PoH in "Sword Art Online."
His previous appearance in Conan was in "Momiji Ooka's Challenge Letter."

■ 【This Week's Recommendation】 "The One Dollar Silver Coin" by Earl Derr Biggers

This week, based on the keywords of silver coins and pocket watches, I'd like to introduce "Chase the Silver Dollar" (Original title: The Dollar Chasers)! The author is E. D. Biggers. It is a novella published in 1928.
Bill Hammond is a newspaper reporter who boards a passenger ship with Mr. Bachelor and others. He and Bachelor's daughter, Sally, are in love. Mr. Bachelor shows off a silver dollar to his invited guests. He says it is the very first dollar he ever earned and is a very important item he carries as a good luck charm. However, an incident occurs where the silver coin is swapped for a fake by someone. Bill, thinking that if he solves the case, Mr. Bachelor will approve of his marriage to Sally, rushes to investigate.
...That is the story. There are unique suspects, the progress of the romance between the protagonist and Sally, and a Japanese servant who plays an important role.
Ran: "Next Conan's HINT!"
Conan: "Koji Haneda!"
Conan: "The genius shogi player who died 17 years ago... The Organization was involved in his death!"
