♠︎How do you make friends who stay with you even after you grow up?
My second son, who is in his second year of junior high, has returned from his school trip.
“How was it?”
“It was super fun!”
“What was the most fun part?”
“Playing Daifugo with my friends until late at night.”
“That’s great, that sounds like fun!”
—
Hearing that,
I felt like telling him one thing.
I asked my second son.
“You know, there are people who don't have friends
even after they grow up.
“What do you think is necessary in childhood
to become friends who still see each other as adults?”
“Having the same hobbies?”
“Meeting up sometimes?”
—
I said this.
Those are factors, too.
But what I think is most important is the long time spent together during childhood.
Doing club activities together.
Going out to play together.
Staying over at each other's places.
You don't need to do anything special.
Even silly things are fine.
I think the time spent together itself is what creates irreplaceable friends.
My second son asked me,
“Do you have friends like that, Dad?”
“I do. In my case, they are my college friends.”
During my college years, I worked part-time jobs
where I stayed overnight with members of the same club every week.
I continued that for all four years of my student life.
Because we spent time together every week,
our relationship naturally deepened.
Even now, we meet once a year.
—
On the other hand,
I transferred schools in my second year of junior high.
All my elementary school friends
went on to the same junior high school,
so a little distance grew between us there.
Therefore, in my case,
it's a bit hard to break into the circle of friends
from my elementary and junior high school days.
I told him that.
“That's why I think your current environment,
at a combined junior and senior high school, is very good.
To be in the same room with close friends
and stay up late together,
that is truly the best, isn't it?
Please continue to cherish that kind of time.”
“It's kind of strange to be praised
for playing until late at night.”
My second son said with a laugh.
“Dad values those things too, so
keep that in mind.”
I said that, and I laughed too.
I hope you cherish the relationships with friends
that you can only make right now!
Let's keep being excited today as well!!💪
