Learning Your Habits Through Corns 818
For the past few days, there has been thunder but no rain, and the temperature hasn't risen that much, so I was finally starting to envision a shift toward autumn, but...
Today, the temperature is no different from midsummer, the humidity is even higher, and on top of that, words like "tropical night" are flying around.
Even though we are in the transition period of the seasons, I can't deny that I've had my fill of this back-and-forth...
But I've even gotten used to that back-and-forth, and a part of me has started saying, "It's still coming? Well, I can handle that," which makes me look at myself with a straight face and think, "...there's a limit to being a glutton for punishment."
Such is the end of summer.
Ever since the peak of summer passed, my passion for iced coffee has suddenly increased, and perhaps because I've been drinking so much of it... not only did a rash appear around my ribs, but red spots also started appearing along the inside of my shins along the bone. Apparently, rashes are considered one of the symptoms that tend to appear at the change of seasons, so I'm conveniently leaving it to my body's cleansing power, thinking, "I see, it's quite timely..."
Speaking of the body's cleansing power...
Since I started foot reflexology, I've been experiencing something like a corn (a mild one) for the first time in my life.
I thought, "What? Even though I'm pressing on my feet!?" but since this, like the rash, is a form of the body's excretion, I decided to "just watch it as it is!" and have been observing it.
By the way, they formed on both feet at almost the same time in similar places, which happen to be on the border of what is called the digestive organ zone.
Occasionally, while standing or walking in my daily life, I would feel a prick from that hard part or recognize that it was "there," but one day, the one on my left foot suddenly became smaller and disappeared, and the one on my right foot was also on the verge of disappearing a few days ago.
That is...
In the last two days, it has become lumpy and larger again in the same spot on my right foot.
It's not the time to be nonchalantly saying, "The cold food and drinks are having an effect..." with ice cream and iced coffee, but I had been thinking without a doubt that that area was the reason, as if it were obvious.
That thought floated vaguely into my mind as I woke up this morning.
"Doesn't that mean your center of gravity is on the outside?"
Because of the lack of coherence, I even made a retort to my own head, "That's what you think of right after waking up?" but if I think about it, it is indeed formed on the outer zone of the arch, so if my center of gravity were on the inside, I might not be so bothered by its existence.
Just to try it out, when I stand and shift my center of gravity...
Indeed, if I keep my center of gravity firmly on the inside, it doesn't bother me.
I thought it was a sign of "You're eating too much," but it turns out it was also giving me signs like "You're being careless" and "Your center of gravity is off."
The body is truly clever...
Even though the body is so clever... I am still surprised that the habits, or rather the quirks, and the routes used to move that body are filled with inertia.
Because my head doesn't even realize that I'm moving in that way...
When I turn around,
When I reach for something a little far away,
When I squat down to pick up luggage,
My inner center of gravity easily slips away, and when I try to be conscious of it, saying, "Don't let it slip, don't let it slip," I start moving in a surprisingly awkward way.
It's as if I've forgotten how many years I've been a human...
But it can't be helped.
What I can't do, I have to practice until I can... so that's that.
The fact that the center of gravity of the sole of the foot is on the inside means that the shins, knees, and thighs on top of it will also follow suit, but saying things like, "Well, since my center of gravity is on the inside..." while waiting for the rotation of the shins, relaxing the knees, and waiting for the rotation of the thighs... well, it's quite a big job.
But for now, I can't think of any way to skip this and incorporate that movement into the "obvious" parts of daily life.
And so, it was the middle of September when I began my days of learning how to handle my body so as not to hit the corn, while moving awkwardly like a human beginner.
