[The Reality of Spring Break] The Fact That Having Two Kids Means Only Going to the Hospital and Pharmacy
Spring break has begun.
Yay! I wonder if I can take the kids somewhere!
That's what I thought, but...
The reality was completely different.
I had a to-do list even before spring break started.
Before the new school term begins
“I want to at least get this done”
I had a list of hospitals quietly in my head.
Dermatology (for my eldest daughter's acne)
Ophthalmology (for my eldest daughter's myopia eye drops)
Dentist (regular checkup)
Pediatrics (sublingual immunotherapy medication for my eldest and second daughter)
It's not like it's anything serious. But when I think, 'I have to do this during spring break!', I somehow feel like I have to go.
Isn't this a common experience for parents?
Then a cold barged in
Just as I was steadily working through the list...

My second daughtercaught a cold.
Why during spring break!!
And at such a perfect time, too.
Since a fever started on the same day as the dermatology appointment
Pediatrician → Pharmacy → Cancel Dermatology
I followed that sad route.
Before I knew it, I was only going back and forth between the hospital and the pharmacy.
When I try to organize it a bit...
Things done and places
Second daughter: Pediatrician (fever) → Pharmacy
Eldest daughter: Eye doctor (nearsightedness) → Pharmacy
Eldest daughter: Dermatologist (acne) → Pharmacy
Eldest and second daughter: Dentist (regular checkup)
Eldest and second daughter: Pediatrician (sublingual immunotherapy) → Pharmacy
Hospital: 5 times Pharmacy: 4 times
...What was spring break again?
That's how it felt.
When you have two children, the hospital loop never stops.

If it were just one, it would still be okay.
But with two...
One of them always has something going on.
Just when the eldest daughter's errands are done, it's the second daughter's turn.
Just when the second daughter is done, the eldest daughter catches a cold.
The pharmacy waiting room has become my second living room.

You usually have to wait at the pharmacy, right?
At first,
I wondered when it would be over,
but...
When it happens every time
I've gotten used to opening my smartphone in the waiting room and relaxing.
When I'm called with "Sorry to keep you waiting"
I've reached the state of mind where I think, "I could have waited a little longer..."
I've reached that level.
(When it's not a case of 'they look miserable, so let's get home quickly and give them their medicine,' I'm fine with waiting.)
I read the above while waiting at the hospital with my eldest daughter.
