The results of my second daughter doing the National Unified Elementary School Test preparation worksheets
This weekend, my second daughter willtake the National Unified Elementary School Testfor the first time.
My eldest daughter took it consistently for six years, starting from first grade.
And my stance when my eldest daughter took it for the first time was...
“Alright, go for it!”
No preparation, no plan, no readiness.
At the time, I thought things like “getting used to the test environment is what matters,” but after six years of experience... well, I’ve come to think differently about a few things.
This time, I decided to have my second daughtertake it after properly preparingfor it.
Starting the National Unified Elementary School Test (1st Grade) preparation worksheets
I prepared past papers and practice worksheets for the National Unified Elementary School Test.
My second daughter seemed reasonably motivated and sat down in front of the worksheets.
A few minutes after starting...
Second daughter: “Daddy, I don’t know how to do this, so teach me”
She came to call me.
Well, that makes sense. If there’s something you don’t understand, you ask, right?
For now, I’ll take a look at the problems with her.
“For this part, you think about it like this...”
As I start to explain, my second daughter’s eyes light up.
Second daughter: “So, which number is it?”
No. That’s not what I mean.
Every time I open my mouth, what my second daughter is aiming for isthe answer itself.
When I give her a hint, she says, "So, is it number three?"
When I explain it, she says, "Ugh, so which one is it?"
No matter where you look,she tries to get the answer out of me.
Where did she hone her information-gathering and negotiation skills?
When I ask, "Do you understand up to this point?"
Second daughter: "I don't understand any of it"
Any of it...?
I feel like this has become a problem before we even get to the test prep.
It's a psychological battle where whoever says the answer first loses!
What's different from when my eldest daughter did it?
With my eldest, it was just "Go get 'em," so these kinds of worries didn't even come up.
Thinking back now,that was refreshing in its own way.
But this time, since I'm trying to help her prepare, this back-and-forth with my second daughter happens.
Our family's National Unified Elementary School Student Test prep has become a battle of "how not to get the answer out of Dad" before the test even starts.
It has become a study session that istiring in a different waythan it was with my eldest.
