How to See Orcas at Suma Sea World from the Front Row [Orca Stadium Strategy: Watching Dolphin and Orca Shows Back-to-Back]
I've arrived at Suma Sea World.
The plan is... to act so that the kids can watch the dolphin and orca shows back-to-back with minimal waiting time.
The reason is... I don't think my second daughter can handle long wait times (it seems there is quite a long wait to sit and watch the show).
So,Mom went to secure seats for the orca show by herself, while I took the kids to Dolphin Stadium.
The flow went something like this.
[13:20] Entered Suma Sea World (40 minutes before the reservation).
[13:23] Mom went to Orca Stadium => Joined the entrance queue.
The three of us went to Dolphin Stadium => (40 minutes before the show) The front row and center seats on the second floor were full, but we were still able to sit together in the back.
[14:00] The three of us watched the dolphin show.
[14:20] After it ended, we moved to Orca Stadium.
[15:00] The four of us watched the orca show.

After entering, we split up 1 vs 3!!
When Mom went to secure seats for the orca show, the up escalator was blocked off and she couldn't get to the second-floor Orca Stadium.
When she asked a staff member,
"The up escalator is currently unavailable because people are exiting. Please take the elevator next to the escalator to the second floor, go straight, and you should find the waiting line there, so please wait in that line."
They kindly explained it to her. After that, she joined the queue. After entering, she managed to get 4 seats in the 9th row center, just barely out of the splash zone!
Thanks to that, the kids were able to safelywatch the 2:00 PM dolphin show and the 3:00 PM orca show back-to-back with minimal waiting time.

Personally, I recommend watching the dolphin show first, then the orca show.
The orcas are powerful and moving. I was also surprised by their size!
Now, let's check out the points for seeing orcas at Suma Sea World and information about Orca Stadium.

[3 Points for Seeing Orcas] How to watch the Orca Performance from the front row/center

Seats where you can watch the Orca Performance (orca show) while feeling the power of the orcas fill up in no time.
The methods for securing easy-to-see seats in the front row or center are as follows.
Have at least one person secure seats
Join the waiting line (there are tips for lining up)
Line up early
Have at least one person secure seats

First, securing seats with only luggage is prohibited.
It is okay if at least one person remains.
If one person makes the sacrifice, it is possible to walk around and see other areas until the show starts.
Join the waiting line during cleaning

After the previous orca show ends, even if you try to secure seats for the next orca show, the first-floor escalator is blocked and you cannot enter Orca Stadium. You cannot climb the stairs because there are many people coming down.
When the show at Orca Stadium ends, everyone must leave and cleaning begins.
During that time, the escalator to the second floor is blocked.
The way to secure seats is
to go to the second floor using the elevator next to the first-floor escalator
once you exit the elevator, go straight and join the waiting line
Secure seats early

If you want to see the orca show, it is safer to secure your seats before the dolphin show ends. Even 30 minutes before the orca show, standing room was already impossible.
The stages are roughly as follows.
Join the waiting line during cleaning (you can get seats in the front row where you might get splashed, or in the center).
Secure seats after cleaning ends until the dolphin show finishes (the earlier you are, the better seats you can get).
Line up after the dolphin show ends (standing room is possible if you are early)
Watch the orca show while eating [Blue Ocean (Suma Sea World) requires lining up before opening]

The ways to eat while watching the orca performance are
watching from Blue Ocean
buying food at Port Diner (takeout food) and then watching
these two options.
Blue Ocean is
a buffet-style restaurant where you can enjoy a meal while watching orcas, just like at Kamogawa Sea World (located on the first floor of Orca Stadium).
At least for now (as of June 7, 2024), you absolutely must get a numbered ticket first thing in the morning.
It is impossible unless you line up at least an hour before opening.
Conversely, if you just give up on Blue Ocean, everything else is manageable.
Port Diner (Takeout Food) [Orca Stadium 2F]
The takeout food counter on the second floor is quite crowded before the orca performance begins.
Please be careful not to miss the show while preparing your meal.
Getting Suma Sea World Orca Merchandise

You can get orca merchandise from Orca Stadium at
Blue Flag (Museum Shop)
Orca Lottery (1,200 yen per try)
these two places.
Blue Flag (Museum Shop) is
crowded all the time.
Please be aware that it gets extremely crowded, especially after the orca performance ends.
It is slightly less crowded during the performance.
Purchase exchange tickets for the Orca Lottery and Dolphin Lottery at the ticket vending machines.
There will be a line in front of the ticket machines after the performance ends, but it doesn't take that long. They accept not only cash but also cashless payments.
Just hand over your exchange ticket when you draw the lottery.
The ticket machine for the Orca Lottery is behind the escalator on the 1st floor of Orca Stadium.
The ticket machine for the Dolphin Lottery is in the 3rd-floor corridor of Dolphin Stadium.

Items for conquering the orca performance

The items for enjoying the orca show are as follows.
Poncho
Heat countermeasures (handy fans, cool rings, parasols, etc.)
Poncho for protection against getting wet
You may get soaked up to about the 8th row from the front. (You need to be careful with cameras and electronic devices.)
Ponchos are sold at wagons. Cast members also walk around selling them by hand. They were 400 yen each.
Heat and sunburn countermeasures
Since there is a long wait time outdoors, you should take measures against the heat and sunburn.
Handy fans, etc.
Cool rings, etc.
Parasols, etc.
I was really glad I had these three things... If I hadn't, I might have collapsed from the heat💦
