Even though it's brand new: The fate of my second daughter's study desk
My second daughter's desk has arrived at our home!
It's the same Koizumi Beeno as her older sister's. It's a study desk made of oak (acorn tree).
Since she's still small, we decided on living room study, so we set it up in the living room.
The natural wood grain is beautiful...✨
My second daughter was also overjoyed, saying, 'Wow! It's my desk!!'
But...
The desk mat hasn't arrived.
We have the Rilakkuma one that came as a bonus with the desk, but it can't cover the whole desk.
From my experience with my eldest daughter, I know that without a desk mat, the desk will get covered in stains from permanent markers and paints.
That's why a desk mat is an essential item.
The chair arrived.
The desk arrived too.
But only the desk mat hasn't arrived...
And then I realized something.
My second daughter's brand new study desk set up in the living room.
Its location is...
Just perfect for folding and leaving the dried laundry on!!
A wide tabletop.
It's the perfect height.
It's in a convenient spot right along the living room traffic flow.
This... is useful!!
Before I knew it, it became a laundry drop-off spot.
I told myself that until the desk mat arrives, it wouldn't be used for studying anyway.
So I told myself...
When I noticed, there was a huge pile of dry laundry on my second daughter's study desk.
It had completely turned into a laundry storage area.
I'm sorry, my second daughter...
It's your study desk, but...
And then, my second daughter's actions.
One day, when the chair arrived.
I thought my second daughter was sitting at her desk doing something, but...
She was skillfully folding the laundry that was on her desk.
Huh!!
She's actually using it as a desk!!
...Well, not for studying, though!!
But it was a heartwarming sight.
I feel like it was the same way with my eldest daughter at first.
And now, my eldest daughter has grown into a child who sits at her desk to study from 5 a.m.
So my second daughter will be fine... probably!
Once the desk mat arrives, I'll make sure to let her use it properly as a study desk.
Until then...
I'll be putting it to use as a laundry folding training desk!!
