The World Blue Story: The President and Aorin

I knock on the door of the World Blue president's office.
The door opens immediately, and the president invites me in himself.
It is not worth being surprised.
He has already confirmed my arrival via monitor and alarm.

“Aorin, come in.”
He looks as tired as ever.
But I know he is deliberately acting that way.

“I’ve just finished a section of work. Say, would you mind... making me some coffee?”
He says, looking a bit shy.
This expression is the president’s true self.
I’m sure YuniYuni must have fallen for this smile.

“Of course.”
I skillfully prepare the president’s Golden Ratio Coffee7 parts coffee, 2 parts milk, 1 part sugar.

As I am thinking about how to bring up the topic,
“How are the newcomers in the ITInformation Trap circle doing?”
The president asks me.

He surely sees through all of that already...
“This year, we have an even more eccentric group than usual.”
“Is that so? That sounds fun.”
He says with a smile, then adds,
“So, is it about Yuni today?”

He saw right through me.
“...Ah, yes.”
“The rumors about you two having breakfast together, and you giving her a ride home on your motorcycle have been circulating. I’m sorry for causing trouble.”
He looks like the picture of remorse.
This man’s expressions change constantly.

“Yuni hasn’t been herself lately.”
“Yes. ...President, you know Tatsuki Aono from the Sales Department, don’t you?”
“Ah, of course. Are you bringing this to me on purpose, Aorin?”
He knew it all along.

Yuni was being persistently stalked by her ex-boyfriend, Tatsuki Aono.
The reason they broke up was because Tatsuki Aono was cheating on her.
He is apparently demanding they get back together with the selfish excuse that he has broken up with the other woman.

“Yes. I sensed that it might turn into trouble.”
The situation is more serious than I thought.

“Actually, the situation is more serious than you think, Aorin.”
Huh? Mind reading?

“President, are you perhaps talking about Hitomi Aoi from the Publicity Department?”
I didn’t realize he was aware of that much.

Hitomi Aoi is Yuni’s junior from her time in the Publicity Department.
That junior is the other woman Tatsuki Aono was cheating with.
Hitomi was unilaterally dumped by Tatsuki, and she is holding a grudge, blaming Yuni for it.

“Aorin, your information network is not to be underestimated. Yes, there is a possibility that harm could come to Yuni. That is why I intended to protect her by staying by her side, but...”
He hesitates.

“Because it became a rumor?”
“Exactly. I ended up doing more harm than good. That said, if I assign an obvious bodyguard, even stranger rumors will spread. So...”
As he says this, he turns a mischievous gaze toward me.

Huh?
Could it be... Ah, so that’s it.
No, I didn’t come here hoping for a development like this.
I only came to raise a warning, but before I knew it, I was being drawn into the president’s scenario.

“You want me to protect Yuni?”
Surely, this outcome was decided the moment I knocked on the door of the president’s office.

“There is no one more suitable than you, is there? You are well-versed in all the information within the company and are skilled in martial arts. Above all, you are Yuni’s senior secretary. You could say you are the person closest to her.”
That may be true, but she probably hates me, and...

“Isaya Boa Aorin! I hereby appoint you as Yuni’s bodyguard. That is a presidential order.”
He said it with plenty of playfulness.
I’m weak against that smile...
