The shortest path is winding
Episode 308.
Hello, this is Ao😄
I love books.
It has calmed down recently, but at my busiest, I was going to bookstores 7 days a week.
Though I mostly left without buying anything (lol)

So, this time, I read a book that looked interesting.
[Dark Horse: The Era Where People Who 'Live Only for What They Love' Succeed]
*I am an Amazon Associate
First, the visual impact caught my attention,
'Is this a story about aiming for a long shot and succeeding (or having succeeded)? It looks interesting just as a read.'
I thought, and picked it up.
But as I read on, it was a bit different.
I wasn't aiming for anything.
I wasn't aiming for a long shot.
It felt more like following the flashes of inspiration I had at the time—no, that's too mild; it was more like resetting and starting over.
Actually, it was a book for people who look ordinary to run in their own unique way.
The message this book repeats over and over is surprisingly simple.
'There is no need for everyone to follow the same route.'
Get into a good school, join a good company, and aim for a promotion.
That isn't necessarily the perfect fit for everyone.
Yeah. I see.
Looking back, I have changed directions at different times myself, and I feel like that is what has led me to where I am now.
(Setting aside my poor health)
Looking back briefly, I started working right after high school.
I went into customer service and experienced being a store manager at 7 different locations, did a little bit of service work, and then completely changed fields to manufacturing.
I experienced a few manufacturing jobs and ended up as an inspector.
All over the place (lol)
But every job had sensations and skills that could only be learned there, and those are all being put to use now inmy creative work and my writing.…I think.
At the time, I was just 'doing what was right in front of me,' but looking back, it might have been part of a proper route after all.
Especially in customer service, you learn not only how to deal with people but also how to think from the other person's perspective.
I think that is a very important thing.
Service work wasn't really for me, I suppose. But I gained something just by knowing that.
Manufacturing. It seems I really do like making things.
The process of using my hands to create something, how to increase precision and finish beautifully within the time limit.
In parallel with that, I started leather crafting.
Around that time, people started saying, 'You have the soul of a craftsman, don't you?'
I think my scattered past work history is probably being put to use in my leather crafting now.
In the book, it was written that detours and taking the long way around'can sometimes actually become the shortest route.'The moment I read that, I felt like all my past experiences connected in a single line.
Thinking of it that way, detours aren't a 'waste of time.'
Rather, that was the time spent creating my own color.
The official route isn't something given to you from the start.
As you walk, your own footprints become the route.
So I'll probably keep taking detours from here on out.Though I'm already at an age where I shouldn't be taking detours (sweat)
If you're interested, please give it a read⬇️
So, this time,
I'm going to make the path I chose the right one!
That was the story.
I have started an online shop.
"#WhatAreYouTalkingAbout" merchandise is now on sale.
