It's Important to Just Try

This is a pigskin book cover I made a while ago.
It looks like this⬇️

I've always felt it was a little lacking.
So, I thought I'd try decorating it with POSCA markers.

And so, I worked on it silently until it was finished.

No matter how much I say momentum is important, I really should have taken pictures of the process.
Before I knew it, it was done (haha...)

Here it is.

Ta-da!⬇️

It ended up looking like a bunch of stickers lined up (lol)

I didn't have a specific image of the finished product in mind, but as I added colors, it turned out like this.

Here is a close-up, just in case⬇️

Steps
◎I added blue shadows and white highlights to the original black stencil.
◎It still felt lacking, so I filled in the surroundings with red.
◎It didn't look quite right, so I outlined it in white.

If you ask me if this is cool, it's hard to say...

But you know, worrying about what to do if it doesn't turn out cool, or waiting until I get better at it, or overthinking things...

Instead of listing reasons not to do something, why not just try it?

This time, the appearance is, well, questionable...
But even so, there were things I learned because I actually did it.

First of all,
💡This is how you can create a sticker-like vibe.
💡The red was too thick.
💡White (a light color) doesn't show through when applied over red (a dark color).
💡The white color is more vibrant than I thought.
And so on.

As long as there is learning, it's not called a failure.

You're thinking of it as a failure, though.

Instead of thinking about this and that reason not to do something, I think it's important to act on the reason-free feeling of “That looks fun!”

If you can act on “That looks fun!”, it becomes your experience.
Even if it doesn't go well, the learning becomes your asset.

If I could build this up every day, I think my daily life would become much more fulfilling.
