How I, a chronic bottom-wear wanderer, finally settled on PLST pants
I am a person who wears pants all year round, and because I have a preference for linear designs and look for a crisp, sharp aesthetic in my clothes, whether the center crease holds up is a point I consider quite important when choosing bottoms.
Also, despite wanting that crisp look, I am aware that I am lazy, and I don't have the energy left to do laundry and iron after coming home from work. Since I rarely iron, the center crease is a desired element for me in the sense that it allows me to easily achieve that crisp look.
For someone like me, finding a brand that sells many types of pants where the center crease is hard to lose was the biggest challenge.
Ups and downs
I tried several brands, including Uniqlo and Global Work. Among them, while I did encounter a few products that could be worn for a long time without the center crease disappearing, I hadn't been able to find a reliable brand for a long time.
For example, with Uniqlo's tapered pants, the center crease is glued on the inside, so the middle line never disappears, and I still wear those.
However, in the case of wide pants, at least for the ones I bought, none of them had processing like glue to keep the center crease, so the middle line would disappear after one or two washes.
On the other hand, the wide pants I bought at United Arrows were processed so that the center crease was hard to lose, which was good.
However, when it comes to stocking up on bottoms from the United Arrows group, even at Green Label Relaxing, which has a relatively more affordable price range, the cost makes me go 'oh...' and since I am also someone who requires hemming, the price goes up even more, making me go 'oh...' again.
Furthermore, because the price is quite high, if I buy them online and they don't have the crease-retention processing, the mental damage is significant. It's also partly because I haven't been able to check in-store enough to find a trend like 'this series is always fine every year'...
Meeting PLST
Around the end of last summer, when I happened to pass by a PLST store, the blue color of these wide pants felt fresh to me, as my existing bottoms were mostly black or navy, and I ended up purchasing a PLST product for the first time.
Even when I bought them, although I had no knowledge about center crease processing, I somehow felt that the center crease would be hard to lose.
Since then, I have worn and washed them at least 30 times, and the center crease seriously does not disappear.
Thinking I might buy another color, I went to the product page and found this explanation.
The center crease, treated with resin processing, does not easily disappear even after washing, maintaining beautiful legs.
I had a 'eureka' moment realizing there is something called 'resin processing' to make the center crease hard to lose! It was truly a eureka moment.
Because of that, and since my winter pants were getting quite worn out, I immediately bought one pair of winter tapered pants and one pair of wide pants at the end of last year.
Looking at the PLST product pages, not all bottoms with center creases are described as having 'resin processing,' but the descriptions for products with different shapes, like tapered vs. wide, sometimes mention 'resin processing.' Therefore, being able to tell that it's probably fine if the word 'resin processing' is present has become a source of peace of mind when purchasing online.
Also, since the Fast Retailing group makes it easy to understand product series and trends, I feel that it is a brand I can trust to buy from, regardless of whether the processing is explicitly stated.
What they look like after dozens of washes
Even if I say the center crease doesn't disappear after dozens of washes, I think there might be a question of what they actually look like, so I will post photos of the actual items here.
I have worn and washed the blue wide pants at least 30 times, and both winter pairs about 20 times each. I have not ironed them at all.

The crease has become a bit faint on the back, but I think it's fair to say that the center crease remains on both the front and back.
By the way, going off-topic a bit, regarding the blue wide pants, although the center crease remains, I think the fabric is prone to wrinkles if you spin-dry it thoroughly. The wrinkles behind the knees are also quite visible.
This is proof that I haven't ironed them, including the center crease, but it's nothing to be proud of, so I thought I should iron them...
However, basically, not to mention the center crease, the fabric is sturdy, so even without ironing, I think they maintain enough crispness to be worn at the workplace without any issues.
That said, PLST is not cheap either
It's convenient to be able to request hemming both in-store and online, and I want to stock up on PLST bottoms as my work uniform, but PLST is not cheap.
I get the impression that they are somewhat cheaper than Green Label Relaxing, but since clothes are not my top priority for spending money, they are not cheap...
However, in the case of PLST, there are often times when they become cheaper with app-exclusive prices or 1,000 yen off for two pairs, so I try to aim for those timings to buy.
Also, there is a coupon you get in your birthday month, which I am also grateful to use.
In conclusion
Also, if you know of any other brands that offer many products with solid resin processing or well-defined center creases, I would be incredibly happy if you could let me know in the comments.
If possible, it would be great to have more options from brands with slightly more affordable price ranges...
Also, if there is anyone who is not yet using the PLST app, if you install it and enter the referral code below, you will receive a 1,000 yen coupon! For those looking for some nice clothes to help you stand a little taller as you start a new life, please definitely check it out!
