5000 Yen Security Camera | Atom Cam2 Review
The things I've been waiting for are all arriving in the last few days, and for some reason, my schedule is filling up. The first half of November was deathly boring, wasn't it? Why on earth was that!?
Actually, my car was delivered yesterday, and this arrived too.
Well, anyway... since it's a product with limited features, I think I'll start the review with this.
It seems it was a very popular item; I ordered it in early November and it arrived yesterday.

The price has gone up a bit.
To put it bluntly, if you ask me whether it's a buy or not, even with the 1000 yen price increase, if you want a reasonable security camera, I think it's definitelya buy.
The official list price, which is currently out of stock, was 3980 yen.
▲ I don't want you to check the price, but rather the video posted here; there doesn't seem to be any deception in this preview video, and it's better than I thought.
As for nighttime, even with just the light from the streetlamp, it captures images at about 90% of the brightness of daytime, and it perfectly captured the motion-sensor light I installed the other day turning on. I could even see the accuracy of the motion sensor when I wasn't the one approaching it.
The main reason is that it's through glass, but it actually captures better at night than in the morning when the reflections are terrible.
By the way, the culprit who triggered the double motion sensor was captured.

The colors of the pattern are visible even at night.
Usatosan, I don't expect more than what I pay for, but considering the ease of viewing from multiple smartphone apps just by setting up an email, if I were togive it a score including the price, it's 150 points.
Judging by my own standards, and including the fact that the company providing the video upload service seems to be Japanese, I might pay up to 7800 yen for it.
If it were from an overseas company, there might be cheaper ones with more features.
Due to the nature of the product, I don't really feel like posting actual images, but it seems like I can clear the things I was aiming for based on my tests.
With motion detection, if you use the free version, a 12-second video is automatically saved to the cloud. When I checked, it had saved the moment I was fiddling with it while it was powered on, and in the hour since I installed it, it had captured neighbors passing by on bicycles or walking.
I moved the position slightly to a gap where I thought the curtain wasn't wide enough; it was a bit hard to see due to reflections since it's through glass, but I think it's good enough.
The camera also has a speaker that can emit a warning sound, and it seems you can use it for two-way communication. Since I'm using it for outdoor monitoring from indoors, I might not use it much, but it could be convenient for pets or outdoor visitors depending on the use.
It seems you can record for an unlimited time while motion continues by paying 600 yen a month or 6000 yen a year, but 12 seconds is longer than I thought, so I feel like this is enough.
It doesn't just save to the cloud; it also takes a micro SD card. I thought, 'If I look for it, I should have a micro SD card somewhere!' but after searching, I found plenty of cases but for some reason, no cards.
However, when I looked closely, it requires Class 10 or higher and 32GB, which is a bit specific, so I might not even have one. When I saw the price was 640 yen, I thought it would be faster to just buy one, but
I decided to wait and see the Black Friday prices before clicking buy. I'm stingy.
By the way, I think the SD cards I have at home are mostly 64GB, which are Class 10.
Accessories and Installation
It can be placed upright, but you can also rotate the screen 180 degrees in the app, so it can be used upside down.
There might be various ways to attach it, but Usatosan used the included magnet plate, about 4cm in diameter, screwed into the ceiling of the window, and stuck it on with magnetic force.
Even if you can't use nail holes, it seems you can attach it as long as you can stick the magnet on in some way.
The power supply is USB B to A, and it comes with a 1.8m cable. Because of the shape, the USB B port is recessed, so it seems to be a proprietary type. If necessary, you'll need to extend it with a USB extension or an outlet extension.
It's supposedly okay for outdoors, but since it's USB, I think it's really meant for indoors.
So, while I feel this is a rough review, I think it's quite a good deal considering the price, so
if you are interested, why not check it out?
