U | Thoughts on Part 2 of 's t a r s' by Kimiiro Bunko | Deep in memory, the sound of life resonates
I have finished reading Part 2 of 's t a r s'.
When I read Part 1, what stayed with me most was the question of what it truly means to 'protect life'.
Part 2 depicts the encounters and partings, the things stolen, and the circumstances that forced certain choices, all of which existed before that word 'protect' was ever spoken.
There were encounters, there were partings, there were things stolen, and yet there were people who tried to protect someone. By learning of that accumulation, the story gains more depth the further you read into Part 2.
I was particularly struck by Lysis.
They were a character who left a strong impression in Part 1, but reading Part 2 changed how I see Lysis.
Lysis chose a path that would lead to their own suffering because there was something they wanted to protect. There was such pain in Lysis's story.
Theorbo and Lysis.
The two of them share a past where they once spent time together.
That is precisely why the scene of their parting was so painful.
Furthermore, Part 2 depicts the coldness of the ruler, Oud.
Because of that coldness, the figures of those trying to protect someone struck my heart even more deeply.
In the final stages, I was also deeply moved by Swan.
Even after being hurt and losing things, they still try to move forward.
Seeing them try to guide their companions, who were on the verge of stopping, toward the future once more, I felt a definite sense of hope within Part 2.
If Part 1 is a 'story about protecting life,' I think Part 2 is a story about learning what kind of past that life was protected upon.
For those who have read Part 1, I truly want you to read Part 2 as well.
Reading Part 2 makes you want to re-examine the characters you met in Part 1.
And for those who haven't read it yet, I want you to start with Part 1 and experience the 'sound of life' resonating through the universe.
What kind of journey will this story take in Part 3?
I want to continue following it with care.
