I became a TCS certified coach: How I, a skeptic, decided to live as a coach

Looking back now, the catalyst was
not TCS, but a different kind of coaching.

I had just quit my job,
and I was at the point where I was wondering,
What should I do from here?

I didn't really know what I wanted to do or what my true feelings were,
and I felt like I wanted to borrow someone's strength.

At that time,
I learned the word "coaching" for the first time,
and I actually tried it out.

Honestly, at the time,
I was skeptical, thinking, "What could possibly change just by talking?" but

as I spoke about the coach's questions
in my own words,

thoughts I hadn't even realized I had
began to surface little by little.

Oh, so this is what I was thinking.

That sensation was so memorable that
I have notes scribbled excitedly
in my notebook from back then.

And, in the middle of the session,
a single comment from the coach
has become the foundation
for the coaching I do now.

You are well-suited to be a coach.

When I asked why,
they said my voice is pleasant, and listening to it
gives a sense of security and trust.

Huh? I'm so happy!

As always, I was simple-minded (laughs).

But looking back now,
I think that one comment was
a major turning point for me.

From there,
I started to become interested in coaching,

and I have gained experience so far
by having friends cooperate with me
and having acquaintances introduce me to others.

At first, honestly,
I was fumbling around,
wondering, "Is this right?" but

the time I spent doing it
gave me a sense of fulfillment
that I had never felt in my previous jobs.

And,
after I finished talking,
I was thanked to a degree that even surprised me.

At that moment, I thought,
'Perhaps if I deepen my learning further,
this could be useful to others.'
I felt that way.

I felt just a tiny bit
of a sense of progress.

Since then,
wanting to learn in earnest
to work as a professional,

among several options,
I chose TCS (Trust Coaching School).

The deciding factor was
that there happened to be a senior coach who lived in my neighborhood (laughs).

……Writing it like that makes it sound trivial, but

I really resonated with
the content that person was sharing.

The ideal future I envision
and the direction of that person's messaging were the same,

and the fact that I thought,
'I want to learn from this person' was the final deciding factor.

Honestly, I thought it was an amazing connection.

As I learned in that way,
opportunities to interact with people gradually increased,
and I started receiving more kind words.

'Will I really be able to
continue to be useful to people from here on out?'

Such thoughts sometimes cross my mind.

But,
as long as I have that feeling,
I feel like I can face the person in front of me.

I want to deliver to others
the experience I felt back then of 'being truly listened to.'

So,
I plan to write another article later
with details about the new sessions.

If there is anyone currently
considering applying for this,
please, by all means, let me hear your story.

By using a coach's perspective to put into words
the thoughts and feelings inside you,

you should be able to see
a sense of conviction
about what you want to do from here on out.
