(Short Short) Departure (Rainbow Creative Club)
The moment the piano melody began to flow through the gymnasium, my chest felt warm.
Today, I reached the day of my departure.
On the stage, we are singing the graduation ceremony classic, 'On the Day of Departure'.
Every single word of those lyrics is soaking into my heart more deeply than ever before.
Holding back the tears that were about to overflow, I deliberately looked forward and added my voice with the best smile I could muster.
Looking back, it was six years ago.
When I passed the entrance exam and walked through the gates of this girls' school, I was still small and full of anxiety.
My first time living in a dormitory, strict school rules, and an unfamiliar student life.
I don't know how many times I sighed under my blanket at night, feeling the loneliness of being away from my parents.
However, my 'friends' were always by my side.
Whether it was a night when I was depressed over bad test results, or when club practice was so tough I wanted to give up, I was able to keep going because they were there.
If something good happened, they would jump for joy as if it were their own, and we would laugh until our sides hurt over silly things.
Those messy, noisy days had become my 'place' before I knew it.
'Now, it is time to part'
As the lyrics played, my vision blurred just a little.
Over these six years, I have grown taller and my voice has deepened.
But I think what has changed the most is my heart, which has learned the strength of supporting others and being supported by them.
'Departure'
I am now feeling the weight of that word firsthand.
Once we walk out of this school gate, we will scatter onto our own separate paths.
However, the bonds we forged here will not disappear.
I vowed to my future self that when we meet again someday, I will have grown into someone who makes you think, 'You've become so cool.'
When we finished singing the final phrase, the spring light streaming through the window gently illuminated our proud faces.
Fin.
