Artistic Botany Exhibition

Although I have been away from solo and group exhibitions for many years, I have been invited to participate in the 'Artistic Botany Exhibition,' a themed exhibition featuring botanical motifs held in Kyoto.

Since it is a plant-themed exhibition, I wanted to add a specific theme. Given my background in illustrating books about poisons, I chose and combined only poisonous plants and mushrooms.

This is a series combining wild grasses and creatures. They are small, so I think you can enjoy them anywhere.

I was told that I could sell merchandise at the exhibition venue, but since I have never made merchandise before, I have placed postcards with a SUZURI QR code at the venue.

I was nervous.

Participating in a group exhibition for the first time, it had been so long since I painted a one-of-a-kind piece with actual paint instead of digital data, and it was my first time packing and shipping items, so I was very nervous while working, wondering what I would do if I didn't make it in time.

I usually do illustration work where I draw after receiving an order, so I had almost no experience in drawing my own pictures and then selling them. Part of it was that I didn't think they would sell. However, this time, I rediscovered that drawing a one-of-a-kind piece that isn't digital data for the first time in a while is actually a very good thing.

I hope that the six pieces I painted this time will be welcomed by someone and help enrich their life.

The exhibition period is 7 days from Tuesday, February 18, 2025, to Monday, February 24 (national holiday). If you live near Kyoto, I would be happy if you could stop by to take a look.
