Deloris, a club singer, becomes a target of the mafia after witnessing a murder.
She is hidden away in a convent. By bringing entertainment to the choir, she opens the convent up to the outside world.
You get energized by the lively figures of the nuns (mostly old ladies) who start helping people outside the convent and singing entertainment-filled hymns at mass.
When Deloris is in a pinch, you are overwhelmed by the strength they display as old ladies.
They actually mugged a helicopter...
