[Short Short] Transforming Porcelain

──Ding

　A crisp, pleasant sound echoed through the laboratory. Dr. Moss opened the lid of the machine with a face as pale as a paper doll.

“...It’s done... It’s actually done!”

　The doctor held the container he had retrieved up to the heavens and let out a shout.

“I want to drink tea that never gets cold.”

　It was half a year ago that the doctor was summoned to the palace and told this by Her Majesty the Queen. The development budget offered was on par with the defense budget. Since then, the doctor had devoted himself to his research with such intensity that he effectively made his days 26 hours long.

　He had ordered and analyzed every type of vessel from all times and places. Eventually, the doctor succeeded in developing a certain device. Porcelain proved to be the most stable material to place inside the device. And today, the day of completion had arrived.

“Look at this dazzling beauty. Alright, measure it.”

　Tea was poured into the glowing vessel, and the timer ticked away, one second after another. And then, ten hours passed.

“──It’s still warm. Excellent, I shall have an audience with Her Majesty!”

　Overjoyed by the tea that never went cold, the Queen bestowed the title of Sir upon the doctor. This invention is now loved all over the world under the name 'Thermos'.

　The End

Whether or not this is the secret story behind the development of the Thermos is anyone's guess.
