I had ChatGPT write an isekai story.
I'm late to the party, but I'm hooked on ChatGPT. Even with just a little bit of writing, it reacts to all sorts of things.
It praises my own writing so much that I'm starting to get overconfident.
Is it normal for everyone to be praised like this? When I ask it to make things more interesting, it tells me how to improve. This might be a little addictive.
If I input something like, 'Keep this part but summarize it well,' it does it perfectly. If I write, 'I want a bit more groove,' it creates an example sentence for me.
Sometimes, the humor part is a bit '??', but it easily suggests plot developments. And it gives me several options, too. I feel like I could write a whole novel just by continuing this exchange. When I get stuck on the plot and ask, 'Can you tell me?', it gives me three or four ideas. It's become so much fun, like brainstorming with a friend. Maybe I should just write it.
Humor might be difficult, as it can be a bit boring at times, but I guess humans are the same. I was trembling at the evolution of ChatGPT. It was mocked quite a bit a year ago, but if it grows this much in a year, then a year from now... or even five years from now, it wouldn't be strange if it were a commentator on a variety show. Internet news is already partially AI-generated. Perhaps because it has accumulated the memory of internet culture, its writing ability has become terrifying. It can instantly write in a style similar to Haruki Murakami, Yasutaka Tsutsui, or Natsume Soseki. It's scary.
Come to think of it, on May 6th, an AI-written episode of 'Wataru Seken wa Oni Bakari' (Making It Through the World Is Tough) will be broadcast on BS. I wonder if it'll be interesting? I think it'll probably write something that's perfectly watchable, given how things are now.
Below is a novel I had it write as a test, titled 'The Story of Rie Oya Reincarnating into Another World Because Soba Slurping Sounds Were Too Unpleasant'.
I think I input the title and that Rie Oya awakens a cheat ability to distinguish unpleasant sounds and becomes invincible.
"Sound-Transfer Soba: Rie Oya, Distinguishing Unpleasant Sounds and Becoming Invincible in Another World"
[Synopsis]
The sound of slurping soba—that is the 'sound landmine' that humanity cannot avoid.
That day, Rie Oya (50) reached her limit in the TV studio dressing room due to the 'slurp, slurp, slurp... ahhh' sound her manager was making.
"I told you it's noisy!!"
At the same time as her outburst, a mysterious sound wave was triggered. When she opened her eyes, she was in another world.
There, 'Sound Beasts' were threatening the world.
Beasts that rupture people's eardrums with their roars and erode their spirits with terrifying sounds—
However, Rie was equipped with a super-hearing skill: 'Perfectly distinguish, avoid, and analyze unpleasant sounds'.
[Characters]
Rie Oya
A former talent who transferred to another world. She has trauma from the sound of slurping soba. A "Sound Hero" who fights with the ability to distinguish unpleasant sounds.
Fuzz Siren (16)
A rookie swordsman in the Sound Beast Subjugation Squad. His swordsmanship is immature, but he admires Rie.
Gororo Bazoon (45)
Former Music Knight Commander. His throat was damaged by a Sound Beast, and every time he speaks, a strange echo occurs.
Sound Beast: Zuzudull
A soba-sound type monster. Its attacks are purely slurping sounds. A mental attack type.
[Skill List]
<<Unpleasantness Sensor MAX>>
Automatically avoids unpleasant sounds above a certain level. Nullifies mental damage.
<<Slurp Analysis>>
Analyzes the frequency of slurping sounds to read the enemy's position, movements, and emotions.
<<Throat-Crushing Counter>>
A skill that triggers in conjunction with the enemy's chewing sounds or throat-clearing, accurately striking the throat.
[Story Excerpt: Episode 1 'Beyond the Slurp']
Rie Oya covered her ears in the sweltering cafeteria.
"...It's coming, the slurp wave."
Fuzz hid behind Rie, not understanding what was happening.
The next moment—
Slurp, slurp, slurp... slurp, slurp... ahhh...
The ground cracked.
"Sound Beast, Zuzudull...!"
Rie's eyebrows twitched.
"This guy is a 100% soba type. Here I go—take off your earplugs!"
[Dialogue Sample]
"This slurping sound... not bad. High moisture content, 7-3 cut... that means the slash is coming from below!!"
"You can hear the 'sound'? No, I feel the 'unpleasantness'!"
"Soba is... not a drink!!!"

Episode 2 'The Crunchy Chewing Knights Appear!'
Crunch, munch—is the next enemy a 'chewing sound type'!?
It's surprisingly interesting. I'm genuinely intrigued by the settings of the sound beasts and such. Though there probably isn't much demand for an isekai story starring Rie Oya with a theme of unpleasant soba sounds.
Maybe next I'll have it write a story about 'Chisako Takashima reincarnating into another world because she smashed a Nintendo DS'.
