A Psychological Counselor's Perspective | The El Niño Phenomenon and the Butterfly Effect.
As if waiting for summer vacation to begin,
the rainy season in the Kyushu region, which had been delayed, has finally ended.
This year, extreme heat is expected due to the El Niño phenomenon.
When we feel firsthand that what happens thousands or tens of thousands of kilometers away can affect our own surroundings,
it reminds us that there truly are global connections that we are not usually conscious of.
Come to think of it,
there is also something called the "Butterfly Effect."
As some of you may know,
it is a dynamical phenomenon often described as a slight force, like the flapping of a butterfly's wings,
causing a massive force like a tornado in a distant place.
I feel the same can be said for our hearts, which are sometimes compared to the universe.
A small interaction between people, can heal deep and significant wounds stemming from events in the distant past.
I believe that such a psychological phenomenon surely exists.
When I try to believe in things like this,
I feel that the interactions we have with others in various situations in our daily lives,
no matter how trivial they may seem,
are all
precious interactions that hold great potential
is what I have been thinking lately.
I am truly grateful that you used your time, which is your life,
to read this until the end.
I hope,
that your heart, your body, and your life,
will find even a little bit of relief.
