I Learned About Writing from the Essence of Love
Back in college, I remembered how some of my male friends were competing for the same girl.
Even though the two of them were close, one of them would constantly whisper bad things about his friend to the girl. I thought, 'No, no, that's a terrible move,' but I didn't say anything. As expected, the guy badmouthing his friend ended up being disliked, and she started dating the other one. Hmm? Are you saying that's about you, Yasu, even though you said they were friends? No, that's not it. Because that girl was my ex-girlfriend... Phew, that was close. I almost ended it with 'What are you talking about?'

If you write it, people will read it. Aren't we getting too used to such a grateful environment? Man, that's a bit scary. Getting even just one person to read your work is incredibly difficult. It's an amazing thing.
Letters are often used as an example of writing that gets read.
They say, 'Write articles like letters,' because the recipient of a letter will definitely read it. It's best to write with that kind of feeling and content.
Writing a piece.
Having someone read it.
Isn't it just like being in love? Falling for someone. Having the person you like, like you back. It feels close to that kind of state, doesn't it? It might even be a miracle.
No matter how many letters you write, there are times when they won't be read. A love letter written by someone who is 'just not it' might end up in the trash immediately. Ugh, no way. I can't handle it. I'm physically repulsed. No matter how strong your feelings are, they aren't guaranteed to be fulfilled.
Why don't my feelings get across?
No, no, they are getting across, but if it's a no, it's a no. This happens with writing, too. There are just some pieces I don't like. They're easy to read and interesting, but they just don't click, you know? Well, it's a matter of taste.
But tastes change over time. That happens with books, too. When I read them before, they were nothing special, but now they feel incredibly interesting. The opposite happens, too. I used to love them, but now I don't really care for them.
Finding someone whose writing you just really like—that might be a miracle. Unlike romantic relationships, it's okay to like many people. Cheating? How rude, I'm serious about all of them.
So, if we want to be read, we writers can express ourselves to the fullest. In love, when you show the side of yourself that you only show to that one person, you both get hooked. Sharing secrets strengthens the bond. You know, people say things like, 'That's a memory just for the two of us.'
Showing your true self. It sounds a bit sleazy to do it just to be liked, but hey, if you aren't liked, you won't be read, right?
You don't have to put others down to make yourself look superior. You don't have to be consumed by jealousy and lash out. There's no need to try to assert dominance. You don't have to worry about the need for approval, like 'Look at me! Recognize me! Praise me!' Try replacing this with a romantic relationship. If you acted like that to make yourself look good to your partner... well, you'd be disliked, wouldn't you?
Thank you for coming to read again today. I mean it every time I write this at the end.
