MC (Self-introductions, about PLAYLIST FESTIVAL)

As a measure for festival beginners, they implemented a project to release the setlist in advance.
NELN was also announced beforehand.

As a result, they performed 5 songs excluding irony.
Since the stage they appeared on was the "DAWN stage," I thought they might perform dawn, but I realized after it was over that it wasn't even on the candidate list to begin with.

◆Impressions & Notes

Since the "Sakigake Extrome!!" on 9/5 (Sun).

This "PLAYLIST FESTIVAL 2021" was:
・Centered on bands & singer-songwriters
・A very high ratio of women in their 10s and 20s (presumably the main demographic for PLAYLIST)
It was an event with a very different atmosphere from the idol venues I usually go to.

NELN was (presumably) the only idol group participating.
It seems their appearance came about because blowout, the management company for NELN, was the organizer of this event.

NELN's first outdoor stage in a while.
The weather was clear and the location was perfect (though the heat was intense).
This might have been the stage where I felt summer the most this year.

Before the actual performance, there was a final rehearsal.
I felt a band-culture vibe here too (since band live shows often involve instrument adjustments and such right before the start).
A careful rehearsal where they ran through one song.

The performance began.
They appeared in their dawn costumes after the SE.

They started with laid-back songs like "SUMMARY" and "Deja Vu."
The middle to latter half also had "Non-fiction" placed between "Wander Vogel" and "Square," making for a graceful and cute composition overall.
I think it fit the atmosphere of the event well.

Under the scorching sun, they must have had a hard time (it looked hot) in their dawn costumes, but all three performed with all their might, and it was dazzling.

Watching NELN under the blue sky is always fun.
Even though it was an event where I felt a bit out of place, it was a day I was glad I came to.

Also, there was a good opportunity, so I bought a NELN T-shirt that I had somehow missed the timing to buy.
It felt like I was able to retrieve something I had forgotten, which was also good.

◆Other Notes

Besides NELN, I watched live performances by "pavilion," "4na," "Nishina," "POP ART TOWN," "Shiki (from Miwaku Halation)," "Chinatsu Matsumoto," and "nolala."

Every artist (group) was a first-time watch and felt fresh.

Influenced by following Suzuka Harada, I'm starting to like the singer-songwriter scene, and I became interested in Nishina and Chinatsu Matsumoto.
If there's a next time, I'd like to see their live shows again.

Also, as an overall impression:

・Some bands also incorporate something like an idol Overture.

・The MC timing is different from idols. There are many patterns where they put an MC before the last song and then go into it by saying, "Please listen to the last song."

・There were many young artists, but the music was more familiar than I thought... or rather, it didn't feel like there was a big difference from idol music. It might be that the diversity of idol music is increasing and new creators are entering the scene.

That's how it felt.

I enjoyed it more than I imagined, so I thought it would be nice to go to festivals and events other than idol ones once in a while.
