The Shock of the Deep-Fried Omusubi!
[124 Omusubi] OMUSUBI CAFE (Daikanyama) Deep-Fried Miso
Something I ordered casually turned out to be a huge hit!
Life isn't so bad, because things like this happen once in a while.
Perhaps that can happen even with an omusubi.
OMUSUBI CAFE, a cozy omusubi shop in Daikanyama.

The interior uses plenty of wood, giving it a Japanese-modern feel.
They also sell omusubi in a display case, and takeout is available. It's convenient when you're short on time.

I ordered an omusubi called 'Deep-Fried Miso' on a whim.
I imagined it contained something like deep-fried garlic with a miso flavor.
What kind of omusubi is it?

The omusubi arrived.
At first glance, it looked like a regular omusubi with miso spread on it.
However, the moment I picked it up to eat, a shock ran through my fingertips!
"Hot, ouch, ouch, ouch!"
I almost dropped the omusubi involuntarily.
It was as searingly hot as a heated stone.
The secret behind the 'deep-fried' part is that the entire omusubi is deep-fried. Some shops occasionally sell grilled rice balls, but this was my first time seeing a deep-fried omusubi.

Phew, phew. Hot, hot.
The outside is super crispy and truly fragrant.
The inside has a different texture, with chewy rice.
Sweet miso clings to it.
This combination of fragrance and chewy texture reminds me of something.
That's it! That one!
Freshly fried sesame balls that you get in a Chinese course meal. The taste is different, but the image is close.
The flavor, the texture, the atmosphere of the shop, and the piping hot deliciousness that I had never experienced before.
I really want everyone to try it.
That was the kind of encounter I had with this rice ball.
Thank you for the meal!
