Personal project 'I will praise your tanka poems, Spring 2023' has ended. Thank you very much. ☆彡

Hello. ^^

I have returned once again.
Without learning my lesson, I would like to
launch a personal tanka project.

Oh, excuse me for not introducing myself sooner.
My name is Tsuru, a noter.

I am an amateur tanka poet.

This project is a personal one
where I, unworthy as I am,
will praise the tanka poems
that you have composed.

If you write your own poems
in the comments section of this article,
I will reply to them
with words of praise.

As for the rules,

★ Up to two poems per comment submission.

I will set it as that.
If you do that,
you may submit as many times as you like.

For now,I am thinking of the submission period as being
from today, Tuesday, March 28th, to Sunday, April 23rd.

However,
I must state that due to the physical and mental circumstances of the project organizer (myself),
there is a possibility that the project may end earlier than planned.

This will be the third time holding this event.
So,I would like to try one experimentas well.

I will write out the poems you submit by hand,
and announce (upload) them in this article with ongoing updates,
,is what I mean.

I do not have any particular ranks or grades in calligraphy,
but I would like to write them as a token of my gratitude,
and it is an idea I personally want to try. ^^

You are free to take home what I have written,
and you may handle it however you like,
I should mention. ^^

That is all I have to say
about this project.

'I want someone to praise my poems,'
to you who feels that way,
I am sorry that I can only offer my clumsy words,
but I would like to praise them. 🌸

With that, I declare the event open.
m(_ _)m

Project Organizer: Tsuru

*Notice

This project
as of 12:00 AM on Monday, April 24, 2023,
has been concluded.
The project has been officially ended.

I would like to express my gratitude to all the noters
for making this a wonderful project
where I could touch the warm hearts
of everyone during the event period.

Furthermore,
I would like to keep this article
pinned as a featured post
for a while.

After a certain period,
I plan to store it in my note magazine,
'I will praise your haiku & I will praise your tanka',
so it will be available for you to view
at any time.
I kindly ask for your understanding
regarding this matter.
Thank you very much.

Once again, I would like to express my gratitude
to everyone.

Thank you very much indeed. ☆彡

'I will praise your tanka 2023 Spring'
Project Organizer Tsuru

I have turned the works of all the contributors into calligraphy.
Please feel free to view, take home,
or handle your own work as you like,
including editing it. ^^

I will update this as needed. 🖌

🌸 Poem by Maho-san

I chose a brush pen
to write this.

Considering the content of the poem,
I wrote it while keeping a creative style of calligraphy in mind. ^^

If today were not today, I would burn my life to the very end of my life

🌸 Poem by Kore-demo-kaasan

For this melancholic poem,
I recalled the thinness of the lines,
so I wrote it with a fountain pen.

For the seal, I used a gold stamp pad
to keep the look understated yet elegant.

Vanishing along with the fragments of the night cherry blossoms, the moon listened to the resolve of the two.

🌸 Poem by rira

From the word 'graduation', I associated it with things like a graduation certificate. I tried to write it in a polite, formal script that suits that feeling. ^^

Once I held the wings named graduation in my hands, I realized the sky was this blue.

🌸 Poem by Tomone

I felt a literary scent in Tomone's two poems, so I used Japanese paper.

I was conscious of delicacy with the pen, using a fountain pen. I didn't make the characters too rigid, but focused on a cursive style, trying to create an atmosphere. ^^

The ridgeline of memories will someday become flowers; the day I couldn't see the end of Tono.

Though the rain beats upon the waves, it is quiet; occasionally light, it even resembles a dream.

🌸 Poem by Gipozo

I was moved by the scene of the two under the cherry blossoms, so I used stationery with a flower (perhaps cherry blossom) pattern. ^^

I aimed for an orthodox style of writing, without being clumsy, so that I could leave it to your imagination. ☆彡

It turned out to be a coincidence, but I hope the margin on the left also contributes to a relaxed spatial presentation. ^^;

Cherry blossoms fall upon the two who look away, as if to soothe, as if to mediate.

🌸 Poem by Fuu-san

I felt the dignity of a masterpiece, so I wrote it out boldly in a creative calligraphy style. ^^

The seal was small, so I also stamped it with a slightly larger one.

By the way, the 'tsu' is for 'tsuru' (crane). The larger one is 'hyo'. This is taken from my other pen name, 'Hyoshi'. ☆彡

Looking neither forward nor backward, I look down, and then occasionally look up.

🌸 Poem by Haru-to-tomo-ni-san

Haru-san submitted two somon-ka (poems of mutual love). It seems they expressed the romantic exchange between the hero and heroine, likely from the movie 'Tengaramon', in the form of somon. It appears to be a story set at the end of the Edo period.

Reading the poems, it feels as if the story comes into view. ^^

As for the calligraphy, I decided to use a brush. Since it is an exchange of poems between a man and a woman, I changed the writing style for each poem.

The first poem (the man's) is in thick characters. The second poem (the woman's response) is in thin characters, aiming for a different writing style that follows the situation a bit. ^^

For you, my love, whom I cannot meet for a while in a distant land, I wear this red camellia hairpin. / I keep this red camellia hairpin that blooms in spring close to my body, thinking of you.

🌸 Poem by Miyu-san

Miyu-san submitted a love poem. ^^

Is this a scene of cherry blossom viewing? I imagined an exchange between two young people, so I was conscious of a slightly cute writing style.

I used a lettering approach to make it a bit more design-oriented. I used a fountain pen and stationery with a subtle floral color. 🌸

Which is prettier, the cherry blossoms or me? / Intertwining our fingers / Of course, it's you.

🌸 Poem by Sara Soi-san

Sarashoi-san, your poem,
in my own words,
is 'onko-chishin' (learning from the past to create the new).

Literally,
I felt a charm as if you were warming up old aesthetic sensibilities
to carve out
a new horizon.

Considering both the nostalgic feel
and the creative feel,
I dared to write it horizontally,
and with the feeling of sending an old-fashioned letter,
I was conscious of a simple style of writing. m(_ _)m

The traveler's eyes are deep
The blue mountains have a gentle gaze
Returning to the village in spring

🌸 Poem by Hisui-san

Although it was a bit irregular,
this is Hisui-san's poem,
which was submitted from outside this article.

Lightly cloudy sake, poured into a cup, listening to the aroma
The spring when you were here, it does not return, still

For a poem involving sake,
I decided to write it in cursive (gyosho).

It must be Japanese sake.
I used Japanese paper stationery
to write it. ^^

Lightly cloudy sake, poured into a cup, listening to the aroma
The spring when you were here, it does not return, still

🌸 Poem by Olav-san

Olav-san's poem,
to me, felt like a straightforward declaration of love,
so I aimed for a flowing style of writing
that could make use of a conversational tone.

However, upon hearing in your later comment
that it was a poem about a love that must be forgotten,
I left what I had written as it was,
but I lowered the color tone,
and applied an effect that was slightly sepia-toned,
as if revealing a little of the inner heart.

I am not very confident
that this became a compliment,
but I thought that it is certainly a charming tanka
that contains many interpretations of this poem. ^^

I cannot pretend I didn't see it, I cannot pretend I didn't know it
You, whom I have touched

🌸 Poem by Maho-san

Maho-san, this is your second submission.
Thank you very much.

I felt a warm style from your poem. ^^

I tried scanning it with the printer I bought yesterday.

After that, I applied some light effects,
and I made sure to write it in a
heartwarming calligraphy style.

Stamping the seal at the bottom center
might not be very common,
but I decided to place it there
considering the balance of the design. ☆彡

Watching the falling cherry blossoms and the remaining ones, I eat the rolled omelet my child made.

🌸 Composed by Keika Nishino

Keika-san composed a poem with a grand scale,
using the starry sky as the stage.

For this one, I did not use any tricks,
and I wrote it firmly in regular script
using a brush pen. ^^

I used Japanese stationery paper.
The seal uses two colors, red and gold,
and for the effects, I applied them with the image of starlight,
so that the center of the image looks bright. ☆彡

Cutting out one wish from the starry sky,
I take a step into an unknown world.

🌸 Composed by Keiko-san

Keiko-san composed two poems about her thoughts
during her morning walks with her younger brother.

The way she writes, as if communicating with
the vast nature and the mountains, is truly wonderful.

At first, I thought about fitting both poems on one sheet,
but I wanted to express their openness with as large characters as possible,
so I wrote them on two separate sheets.

I wrote them using a brush pen and Japanese stationery paper,
keeping creative calligraphy in mind. ^^

I would be happy if I was able to express
the cuteness of the new buds. 🌱

Spring mountains, soft and plump, gently embracing both you and me.

Soft new buds spread, the mountains smile, a generous morning wrapping around us.

🌸 Noriko Tonomura

Noriko-san, you mentioned that the town you grew up in is by the sea,
and you composed this poem
along with that scene. 🌻

Your poem, Noriko-san, about living in the present step by step with courage,
I wrote on blue stationery using a brush pen,
keeping a sense of freshness in mind. ^^

I hope the calligraphy conveys the feeling of the wind as well. ☆

Turning the slope leading to the sea at twilight in spring
into the courage to live here and now.

🌸 Keiko

Keiko-san, this is your second submission. ☆彡
Thank you very much.

You composed your poem
about the life of cherry blossoms in spring. 🌸

In the article you submitted,
the work (poem) was
divided into 5-7-5-7-7 lines,
which left an impression on me,
so when I went to write it,
I adopted that format.

I used Japanese paper stationery. It is a faint blue.
I wrote with a brush pen using thin, delicate strokes,
imagining the appearance
of a letter. ^^

Long-awaited
fleeting life
even as it scatters
the buds of fresh green
are shining life

🌸 Composed by Noriko Tonomura

Noriko-san,
this is your second submission.
Thank you very much. ^^
m(_ _)m

Now, this poem
is a bit humorous.

I thought it was a very delightful poem,
the kind that makes you smile involuntarily.

If the poem is free,
the calligraphy is also free.

I used sky-blue stationery,
and with a fountain pen, I dared to write in a humorous,
casual style.
Writing something that would make you smile when you see it,
was quite difficult. ^^;

Writing something that everyone can enjoy,
is also something I find rewarding. 🌻

Noriko-san, thank you. ☆彡

Never mind that, just watch me eat this soft-serve ice cream.

🌸 Composed by Shien Satake

Satake-san's poem,
has very skillful depiction of emotions,
I felt an old-fashioned beauty,
and aimed for an elegant script.

I used stationery with a cherry blossom illustration.

If the tears flowing endlessly were flower petals, it would be a raft of flowers covering the surface.

🌸 Composed by Yuzu

There are two poems by Yuzu-san. ^^

I also felt the languor of daily life,
and a slightly melancholic mood. ☆彡

Having you turn them into poems like this,
and letting me read them,
is something I am very grateful for. ^^/

For Yuzu-san's slightly lonely state,
I attempted to express the delicacy,
using a fountain pen and a brush pen. ☆彡

The first poem is with a fountain pen.
The second poem is with a brush pen.
I used Japanese paper stationery for both. 🌳

How many days has it been today since I had no role other than brewing morning coffee?

Since when did I start longing to say 'I'm off,' wanting to be the one seen off rather than the one seeing off?

🌸 Poem by Maho

Maho-san, this is your third submission.
Thank you very much. ^^

This time, your style of writing feels like
a cheering song for youth. 🌳

I used sky-blue stationery,
and wrote it with a brush pen,
keeping clerical script in mind. 🌳

By the way, clerical script is
one genre of ancient Chinese
calligraphy styles.
It is characterized by horizontally elongated characters
and sweeping horizontal strokes.

Looking at it now, I thought the character shapes were fresh,
so I chose that style of writing. ^^

The teenage years are when the magic door opens
Come now, let us advance, even while feeling lost

🌸 Poem by Izayoi

Izayoi-san, your poem
was truly wonderful. ^^

However, when it came time to write it out,
I found myself struggling
with how I should write it. 💦

For some reason, I suddenly stopped
and became lost in thought.
The image for the calligraphy just didn't
come to me. ^^

I tried going out for a while,
or taking a nap,
to try and refresh my mood.

I was finally able to start,
and I wrote it using a brush pen
on Japanese paper stationery. 🎵

I used a gold ink pad
to stamp the seal.
I had the color of the moon in mind a little. ^^

If they spill, they spill and fade away on this spring night
The moonlit night flows hazily

I wonder if it is a pale crimson wave on this warm spring day
With no peace of mind, I too shall scatter

🌸 Poem by Sachi

These are the poems by Sachi-san, who has come to visit us again this time. ^^

Easy to understand, and skillful.
Having received that impression,
I aimed for honest calligraphy and expression. ☆彡

Carried by the swing into the sky,
being embraced,
even the sound of laughter is being sucked in

Putting my hand into your warm pocket,
the warmth of the town in the spring chill is conveyed

🌸 Poem by Sarai-san

Sarai-san, thank you very much for your second submission. ^^

You have sent us another very wonderful poem this time as well.

Considering the delicacy, I have written it accordingly. ^^

The pale pink twilight transfers to the cheeks of those flowers,
thinking of someone

🌸 Poem by kounotorifilms-san

kounotorifilms-san, congratulations on your first submission. m(_ _)m

You have sent us two poems that I can feel the spirit in. ^^

I was conscious of the vigorous brushwork as I wrote them. 🌼

Traveler, the spring breeze blows on the path you walk as you set off without blinking

Daphne flowers blooming forever, a spring evening, under the cherry blossoms wearing letters

🌸 Poem by Yuzu

Yuzu-san, this is your second submission. ☆彡
Thank you very much. ^^

You wrote this poem
in anticipation of your father's upcoming death anniversary. 🌼

With feelings of encouragement,
I aimed for a powerful yet gentle calligraphy style,
strengthening the brush strokes. m(_ _)m

Shall I cry?
No, I won't cry.
Leading my mother by the hand,
who has forgotten the anniversary of his death,
as we walk.

🌸 Poem by Yuta Natsuki

Yuta-san,
you wrote a poem about the vast universe and love. ^^

With the feeling of writing a letter
to the sky (the universe),
I used sky-blue stationery
and wrote it with a fountain pen. 🌼

Yuta-san, thank you for
the love and the universe. ^^

I intentionally left the bottom margin blank.
I intended to represent the vastness of the universe. ☆彡

This vast universe is overflowing with love.
And this small universe called note is also overflowing with love.
Thanks to so much love and kindness, I am kept alive today.

🌸 Poem by Shirokumakirin

Shirokumakirin-san,
you wrote a poem for your beloved,
incorporating Oda Nobunaga and konpeito (star candies),
which were becoming popular at the time and which Nobunaga likely enjoyed. 🌼

In the manner of writing a letter on stationery,
considering Nobunaga's innovative spirit,
I wrote it horizontally
with a fountain pen. ☆彡

Writing this precious poem,
I was nervous. ^^;

The feelings hidden in the bosom of Nohime, whom Nobunaga loved, and the konpeito

🌸 Poem by Yuzu

Thank you so much for your third submission,
here are two poems by Yuzu. ^^

For the first poem, 'Maegami no' (About the bangs),
I aimed for a lighthearted style to express
a cool and refreshing feeling. 🌼

The second poem depicts the scene
on the way to school.
Considering the student's perspective,
I wrote it with a simple, careful, and
neat calligraphic style. ^^

Worrying if I cut my bangs too short, I wrap a spring shawl in front of the mirror

A spring morning, on the students' way to school, I imagine a surprise test

🌸 Poem by Yuzu

Yuzu, thank you so much
for your fourth submission. ^^

This time, the poem has a slightly mature allure.
I used flower-colored (pink) stationery,
and wrote with a brush pen in a full, rounded style,
imagining the sensuality and charm
that a woman possesses. ^^

Watching a kitten sharpen its claws, I feel ashamed of my unpolished fingertips

🌸 Poem by Mato

Thank you so much
for your fourth submission. ^^
m(_ _)m

I have written out two poems.
Both have different styles of expression;
the first poem, 'Kono yo wo ba' (This world),
had a charming mix of
archaic and modern phrasing.

Considering the content of the poem,
I wrote it on Japanese paper stationery,
using a brush pen with a vigorous
and powerful touch. 🌳

The second poem can be taken as
an homage to the Hyakunin Isshu,
and it also reflects the content of a TV drama;
it contains a narrative quality,
making it a poem with the layered meanings
that are unique to tanka, which was rewarding to read. ^^

It is generally thought to be a love poem,
so I wrote it with the image of writing a letter,
using morning glory-patterned stationery and a fountain pen,
while being conscious of a literary,
flowing style. ^^

There are no words to describe this world
I only feel it as it fills me

Holding his poetry collection to my chest as we meet, the forty-third poem resonates within me

🌸 Composed by Yuzu

Yuzu-san, I am truly grateful
for your submission once again. ^^

You submitted two poems. 🌼

For the first poem,
a spring day.
The stationery I used has a camellia pattern,
and I thought the colors, the poem, and the design
matched very well,
so I chose it.
I used a fountain pen, keeping a sense of freshness in mind. 🌼

For the second poem,
a poem that sounds like a lesson,
following a common pattern in calligraphy,
I aimed for a simple style
using a brush pen. ^^

It is fun to write characters like this. 🌻
Thank you. ☆彡m(_ _)m

Spring day, a tortoiseshell hair ornament, the happiness of wondering which one to choose

The smell of the earth, just that makes me want to cry, life is a roly-poly toy

🌸 Composed by Makana

Makana-san, thank you very much
for your submission. ^^

You submitted two poems. 🌼

For the first poem,
you composed about the feeling of watching over your child.
I kept a cheerful writing style in mind. ^^

For the second poem,
based on the phrase 'the scenery spreads out',
I used sky-blue stationery,
and to make the most of the literary style,
I wrote it with a brush pen,
using extremely thin lines,
conscious of continuous cursive script.

It's good practice, but it made me nervous. ^^;

Slowly setting down the burdens on my shoulders
Watching my child grow up so quickly

Even if my words are clumsy, when I play with them, a scenery I cannot see alone unfolds

🌸 Poem by Yuzu

Yuzu-san, thank you for your submission. ^^

You submitted two poems this time as well.
I heard these were written about the time your child was in elementary school. ☆彡

The first poem includes the child's perspective, so
the writing style is a bit more casual.

For the second poem, since you are writing
about a mother's feelings,
I kept it slightly relaxed while also being mindful of beautiful calligraphy.

I hope it turned out to be a piece of calligraphy
that feels approachable. ^^/

Oh, the drawing of the hand in the first poem and
the drawing of the iron in the second poem
were things I drew on a whim. 🌼

Holding my seven-year-old's hand on the way to school, they smile saying third period is P.E.

Odd-numbered weeks when the iron is used more, my child starts lunch duty tomorrow

🌸 Poem by Mimosa

Mimosa-san, thank you very much
for your submission. ^^

I heard you recently started writing poems,
that is wonderful. 🌼

You submitted two poems.

The first poem is a scene from midday.
It reminded me of images like Grimm's fairy tales,
so I wrote it horizontally
using a fountain pen. 🌼

The second poem,
a piece that conveys the charm of the scent of wisteria.
Using a brush pen,
for the image, I consciously aimed for a sepia tone,
intending to express an evening atmosphere. ^^

Midday sun
When I turn around thinking someone called,
a skylark laughs, saying it was just a hallucination

The scent of wisteria sweetens the night air
If I inhale it, I too become a sweet version of myself

🌸 Poem by Yuzu-san

Yuzu-san, thank you very much
for your submission. ^^

You submitted two poems. ☆彡

The first poem is
a poem thinking of a friend in Sudan.
I accepted the feelings of thinking of a friend in a country that must be politically unstable,
and wrote it simply
with a fountain pen.

I refrained from using a seal.

The second poem,
a poem written after listening to my piano piece
that I gifted to Yuzu-san.
From the expression 'scent of soap,'
I used flower-colored (pink) stationery,
and with the piano strings in mind,
I used a fountain pen.

I also added
some fun illustrations. ^^

Looking back at the word Sudan in the newspaper, a night thinking of a friend in Sudan

Listening to the piano, I recall the scent of soap, the scent of soap is a gentle scent

🌸 Noncha-san

Noncha-san, thank you very much
for your submission. ^^

Regarding the tanka you wrote about flowers,
I have had an image of you, Noncha-san,
an impression of you for some time,
and that is an image of being refined.
Based on your icon and such.

So, with that in mind,
I aimed for a neat and tidy style of calligraphy.

I wrote it while being conscious of
making clear lines with a fountain pen. ^^

Flowers are nice, aren't they? 🌼
I am using flower-colored stationery.

Though I do not know your name, I understand your beauty
This 'you' is good, and that 'you' is also good

🌸 Written by Yuzu-san

Yuzu-san, thank you very much
for your submissions, truly. ^^
Finally, tomorrow has become
the deadline day. 🌼

Thanks to you, I am happy
that you helped liven up this project.
☆彡m(_ _)m

These two poems this time
felt a little different in color
from your previous poems,
so with a fresh mindset,
I wrote them very carefully
with a fountain pen. ^^

For the first poem, you wrote about the air,
so I used blue sky stationery. 🌼

For the second poem as well, I wrote it out
very carefully, character by character,
in block style.

Thank you once again. ^^

Breathing in all the air around here, I pretend to be strong today

Disposing of used telephone cards, I wonder what anniversary this was for

🌸 Written by Yuzu-san

Yuzu-san, thank you as always.
I am truly grateful for your submissions. ^^

This time, you wrote about the very ordinary
in these two poems.
I wrote them while being a bit conscious of
creating a friendly style of calligraphy. 🌼

The first one is a poem thinking of a travel companion.
Since a Teru Teru Bozu appears in it,
I used sky-blue stationery,
and today, I ground the ink myself.
I wrote it with a small brush,
as you can see. ^^

For the second poem,
you wrote about fruits,
which makes me feel summer at the fruit section,
and I was conscious of a writing style that is also approachable,
with a rounded, rolling feel.
I was conscious of this. ^^
Just like the first poem, I used a small brush,
with ground ink, on Japanese paper stationery,
to write it for you. 🍍

I hope you can feel the warmth.
I would be happy if you did. ^^

A Teru Teru Bozu for my friend on the veranda, my friend starts their trip to Nagasaki today

At the supermarket fruit section, before I knew it, summer fruits were being sold

🌸 Poem by Natsumi Takehara

Natsumi Takehara-san,
thank you very much for your submission. ^^
I am very happy.

Your poem is
very delicate and poetic. 🌼

Since I also felt the emotion in it,
I ground the ink,
and wrote it on Japanese paper stationery with a small brush,
while being slightly conscious of renmen (cursive connected writing).
That is how I wrote it. ^^

A morning breeze blows as if a flower is about to bloom, and yesterday's sorrow-colored day swayed
