"Sepia-Colored Cherry Blossoms" - Ao-Bura Literature Club - (Around 900 characters)
When I hear the words "sepia-colored cherry blossoms,"
I, for one,
am reminded of my student days.
Now that I have reached my fifties,
I have come to appreciate being able to see colors clearly,
whether it be cherry blossoms or anything else,
so I feel that my young eyes back in my student days,
which were, for example, bloodshot,
could not see things
in their proper colors.
I would rather not recall those bitter days of the past,
but the sepia-colored cherry blossoms might have been the only hope
that passed through my reckless self,
and now, they are one of the few things from the past
that I can look back on,
like an oasis in time,
that I "want to see" once a year.
When I think that they are actually pink or yellowish-green,
I feel a sense of sadness.
I felt that this is what sepia-colored cherry blossoms are,
and perhaps the true sentiment of the cherry blossoms themselves.
After all, there are "flowers."
It is as if they are performing a living drama
for everyone.
The more bitter the experience I have had,
the more I want to encounter beautiful cherry blossoms.
However, they are beautiful things.
The image of cherry blossoms that remains in my heart
settled into a sepia tone.
Things with color are dazzling.
There is such a state of life.
I feel a little sympathy
for things that have no intention of stirring the heart.
A gust of wind blows,
and the park where people are viewing the flowers
seems as if it might be swept away entirely.
Women hold down their hair,
men open their eyes wide,
and children play without a care.
A blizzard of petals falls diagonally.
Mixed in with them,
soap bubbles blown by a small child
are roughed up by the wind and carried away.
If all of that could make one feel the sepia-colored cherry blossoms,
that would be fine,
but it seems difficult to express color in writing.
I feel a longing for the people who come to the park to view the flowers.
The shared understanding that we have come to view the flowers
turns my interest toward people.
When the flower viewing is over, I go home.
I feel very lonely,
but I think I must be grateful
just to have been able to encounter such a miraculous scene.
Perhaps one day,
the sepia-colored cherry blossoms
will also gain color within me.

Although it gave me a familiar impression,
once I started writing,
I felt it was a very difficult topic for me.

I will take my leave for now.
Wishing you all safety and good health.
Sincerely, Tsuru
