The day I decided to post even my random notes and scribbles on my own WordPress site
(This is an article of about 1,600 characters.)
As I mentioned the other day, I have decided to post my future scribbles on my blog site instead of note.
Today is the first day. So, I'm making this one extra long even on note as a special treat😊
The colorful and diverse expressive power of WordPress
The simplicity of note is also nice. But I think that is probably limited to writing essays or novels. For someone like me who wants to express the difference in the value of information through color, the simplicity of note was just too simple.
I changed the font settings to Meiryo
Until now, I was using the standard Swell Yu Gothic font and was very dissatisfied with it. But after changing it to Meiryo and adjusting the letter spacing, it became almost the same as the note editor/writing experience. (I don't know what font note uses lol) It's fine to be approximate. I feel it's almost the same.
Rather, the excitement of being able to use speech bubbles, colored marker underline expressions, and colorful boxed articles 'just like before' was greater.
After all, for the current me, the simplicity of note was a shackle. I think it's just because I've grown over time—that is, I've leveled up my skills.
Peace of mind even if article URLs change in the future
In WordPress, you can freely specify the article URL (slug). This is the same for general blog services.
In contrast, note uses a mysterious string of alphanumeric characters. This alone is quite painful, but if in the future, for example, article slugs change due to the consolidation of magazines on the website, or the URL of the magazine itself changes, if you specify that information in the redirect plugin within WordPress when it changes, the screen will switch automatically without any problems for the user experience or search engines. That is the power of redirects.
The freedom of redirects was very important to me.
You can't really do this on note or other companies' blog services. This feeling of suffocation😱
The value of being able to write truly freely = infinite
note was once intended to be a free park for me, but from the perspective of someone who has obtained this current freedom, I felt that note was still restrictive. The WordPress site, which is a castle I built myself, was much freer.
Until now, I thought there wouldn't be that much of a difference, but the difference was obvious. This is the result of five weeks of effort. Now, I feel restricted by the limitations of note.
So, I probably won't think about wanting to freely scatter trivial writings on note from now on.
I felt that various things had been settled.
This time is special
This time, I wrote a piece on note as a special case. I think it will be much simpler in the future. It might even become a 'tweet-style post.' It is better to put this energy into articles on my website for easier management later and because it can become a resource to use next time. However, writing on note means it can only be utilized as plain text at best. (Even copying and pasting XML requires deleting mysterious id="" attributes.)
I liked it, but precisely because I liked it, it's goodbye.
On using note as one of my SNS platforms
However, just like with Twitter X or Instagram, the way I handle note will just be the same as any other general SNS.
I'm not saying I won't use it, and if it's convenient, I intend to keep using it. It's just that as a writing environment for the current me, note is no longer the main one. That's all.
It's what you call a changing of the guard.
That's all.

This creative activity took about 1 hour and 15 minutes (cumulative total of about 3,560 hours)
(970th note update)
