King of Conte 2024

This is sudden, but I wrote this the day before King of Conte and didn't upload it.

King of Conte 2024, finally tomorrow.
I'm looking forward to it!

I took this to commemorate the occasion! It's in front of the old GAP, the mecca for street snaps at Omokado.

Thinking back to when I talked with my classmates in high school about how "it would be nice to have our street snaps taken," I'm surprised by the fact that I'm not just being snapped, but am on a billboard. It's the best. Foreigners walking by were also taking commemorative photos without even knowing what it was. I hope we can meet again at the Chicago Conte tour in December...

With that said, King of Conte is tomorrow. Thankfully, past King of Conte shows were uploaded on TVer, so I watched them bit by bit, but it was kind of scary. We're in them the whole time. 2011. We're veterans among veterans. Since I have the chance, I'll use this to show off my veteran status. It seems like Koshien has about 3,000 schools entering every year, which is about the same as King of Conte. In Koshien, the players naturally change as they graduate, but here, the two of us have stayed the same. So this year marks our 17th year of high school and our 5th time making the Best 8. It's a setting that's very full of time-leap vibes. If it's not a time leap, then the passage of time is grotesque. We looked very fresh in the 2011 footage I watched on TVer. We had faces like "Freshly picked!" and were saying things like "Nice to meet you!" That was 13 years ago. The audience members who have been supporting us the whole time have graduated from school, become working adults, gotten married, and had children—they have grown up wonderfully. We are in our 17th year of high school. Our school uniforms are tattered. We shouldn't be bragging about making the Best 8 for the second year in a row for the fifth time. Everyone is incredibly funny, but I hope it's a good final for us.

…And so, although I wrote this much, I couldn't upload it because I thought, "It would be a shame if I stirred up support and we lost again this year..." I think it would be fine, but I couldn't do it. This is like the yips; that's how much King of Conte has been a "tournament we've lost" for us.

Once again, King of Conte 2024, thankfully, we were able to win.
I was able to overcome the yips.
To everyone who has supported us for such a long time, thank you so much.
I've been able to keep going because I've been supported by so many people—the agency staff, the staff who support our solo live shows, my family, and my fellow comedians—the list is endless. I cannot thank them enough.


The catchphrase when we appeared in 2011 was "The Unmarked Cinderella Boy." When I look up the meaning of "Cinderella Boy," it says, "A man who suddenly rises to prominence or achieves success from an unknown existence." The first part was correct, but the second part, "achieved success," was completely wrong. However, the Cinderella Boy who stuck with it for 13 years became a father and won. I'm glad I kept at it steadily. When we had to perform two routines in a row, I feel like the experience of getting used to quick changes at our solo live shows paid off. We didn't have time to rehearse the routines, after all.


We will continue to hold solo live shows. To let more people see and know about us, we have decided to re-stream our past shows. Tickets are 1,000 yen. Honestly, I just really want people to watch them!

Our next solo show is also scheduled for the end of February next year in Asakusa. We look forward to seeing many of you there.


With that said, more internal stories are all written in the note by Rubber Girl's Tobinaga-san, a senior who knows me better than I know myself. Everything written there was truly spot on until the very end, and it was so accurate that I cried because I wondered, "How does he know?"

We will continue to do solo shows and conte, I want to appear in commercials for kiwis and hair clippers, I hope Jubilo stays in J1, and I want to co-star on TV with fellow comedians of my generation who are already on TV!

…I'm starting to have fun! I'm glad something good happened!

I was also able to greet Shitara-san, who was the reason I started, in person, so I've completely graduated!
