It's Not Just a Hotel! A Stay Report on Experiencing a Once-in-a-Lifetime Scenic Bath at the 'Hotel Urashima' Dragon Palace, Reached by Boat
If you are planning to visit the Nachi Falls, which boasts the highest drop in Japan, or the Kumano Kodo, there is a hotel you absolutely cannot miss. Having traveled to all 47 prefectures on my own two feet, I was so impressed by this super-famous inn in Wakayama that I thought, 'This is practically a theme park!'
That place is [Hotel Urashima] in Katsuura Onsen.
About 20 minutes by car or bus from Nachi Falls. Here are the three reasons why I highly recommend this inn.
1. Take a boat to the hotel! A 'Dragon Palace' experience that begins upon arrival
The excitement of this hotel starts from the moment you board the dedicated 'Turtle Boat' to cross the sea and head to the hotel. It is the ultimate extraordinary experience, and it is sure to get even adults excited!
2. A view you will never forget! The 'Bokido' large cave bath
The biggest highlight of Hotel Urashima is 'Bokido,' a hot spring built inside a natural cave where rough waves crash against the shore. The Pacific Ocean spreading out before you and the sound of the waves are incredibly powerful! It is a moving experience that lives up to its name, which means 'so wonderful you forget to go home.'
3. Unique to Katsuura! All-you-can-eat 'fresh tuna' sliced right before your eyes
Katsuura boasts one of the highest tuna landing volumes in Japan. At the dinner buffet, a giant tuna dismantling show is held, and you can enjoy all-you-can-eat fresh, just-sliced tuna! It is so delicious that many people return just for this.
★ However, one piece of advice to keep in mind!
The hotel is so 'huge' that it occupies an entire mountain. You may have to walk quite a distance from your room to the cave bath or dining area. Think of it as a 'theme park to explore inside the building,' and enjoy it while wearing comfortable shoes or the provided house slippers!
■ Summary
After soaking in the overwhelming power of Nachi Falls, be enveloped by the sound of the waves in Hotel Urashima's large cave bath. This is the 'perfect route' for a trip to Wakayama.
